Memorial Day Tribute …

Hello Stampin’ Friends ~

Memorial Day honors the men and women who died while serving in the United States military…a somber but important day each year.

However, the weekend also gives us an opportunity to stop and remember those veterans who have taken a Stars and Stripes Honor Flight and have recently passed away.  I share this video in honor of my Brother-In-Law Art Schroeder who we lost only one week after he was on the Honor Flight this past November.  He served in Vietnam … he will be in the third section of this memorial

What an amazing opportunity it is to be a part of welcoming these veterans home as they returned from their Honor Flight. I will do it again … I am so thankful for our Veterans.  May they find peace as they join their brothers and sisters that we honor today.

We you Art

The reason poppies are used to remember those who have given their lives in battle is because they are the flowers which grew on the battlefields after World War One ended. This is described in the famous World War One poem In Flanders Fields.  Today, it remains an iconic symbol of honor for the sacrifice of our veterans.

Thank you for taking time out of this day to stop by and view my post. These poppies are beautiful and the thoughts behind them can range from sympathy to joy … aren’t flowers amazing?

Enjoy your day and take a moment to remember those who gave all … to give us our freedoms.

  1. Linda, what a beautiful tribute to our Veterans from Wisconsin! I thank them all for their service for this thing called ‘freedom’. The Greatest Generation, the forgotten War, etc. Sharing His Love, Jean Bergenthal

    • Thank You Jean. It was my honor to share this memorial … These were just the men and women who were on the Star’s and Stripes Honor Flight this past year, so many more we have lost. I’m with you 100% in thanking them … those we honor today who lost their lives for our freedoms, and those veterans that served. Thank you again Jean for sharing your thoughts with me today.
