Forever Fern: Eclipse Technique!

Hello Stampin’ Friends ~

So excited to meet you back here today! I have a special treat for you … the Forever Fern bundle highlighted using the Eclipse Technique. My color pallet is the Garden Green and Soft Seafoam … love them two together!

So if I haven’t gotten you hooked on this bundle yet, check this out using the dies …

The Eclipse technique is using dies to cut out your image and then using both the cut image and negative to create an “eclipse” effect. I off centered my leaf slightly more than usual to allow more of the color to show underneath, especially because there is a space left open from the die cut.

I began with die cutting the leaf, then I embossed the “negative” with the Subtle embossing folder. Then I took my leaf and colored one side with the “Dark Old Olive” Stampin’ Blend Marker…

I went over the leaf “edges only” again to create some depth of color. Once this was done I added the Wink of Stella … I couldn’t help myself! Even though this would have made a perfect “natural” card, I wanted to “jack it up” a bit as encouragement … My sentiment: You can do this!

The close up is to illustrate to coloring, I just wish you could see the actual “shimmer” from the Wink of Stella instead of just the dots! The other day I shared a card (see card here) using the Trio Punch so I thought I would use it again, showing you a different style punch available. I thought it went very nicely with this card …

The foliage / leaf was secured with the use of the Mini Glue dots. I just “rolled” them and not only do they stick nice, they boost the die cut image up a bit. To finish off my card, I added a few rhinestones to compliment the shimmer of the Wink of Stella and to draw the eye around the card.

Hope you enjoyed today’s card … as you can tell, I am really enjoying the Forever Fern Suite. It’s a staple in your collection (kind of like Lovely as a Tree). Just a reminder that Stampin’ Up! is currently adding a FREE BUNDLE of your Choice to the $99 Starter Kit ($125 Value). I’m here to answer any questions you may have.

Thank you for taking the time to check out my blog today. Hope your day is a good one!
