Technique Tuesday: Chalkboard Technique

Hello Stampin’ Friends ~

Today I’d like to share a technique that was “HOT” a few years back but I still like to use!  Some stamp sets seem destined for this technique and I think the Little Ladybug is one of them.  The hand-drawn designs in this stamp set are a perfect match for the Chalkboard Technique.

I began by coming up with the layout I wanted to use … my Basic Black cardstock was cut just slightly bigger than my block: 5″ x 3-3/4″ so when I assembled my stamps onto my block, I knew how they would look on my cardstocd!  Here is a picture …

I even set the ladybug onto the block so I knew she would fit on there with the rest of my images.  Once the layout was set, I inked up my stamps with the White Craft Ink and then I embossed it with the White Embossing Powder.  You don’t have to emboss to get the Chalkboard look … but I like the bolder, brighter lines that embossing gives you.

Next, I used my Embossing Buddy and dragged it over the entire background to look like someone had just tried to clean their blackboard with a dirty eraser! lol

Time to create our ladybug. I choose the one that looks a little shy because it reminds me of my shy little granddaughter Lilly ❤ This will be her birthday card.  I stamped her with the Momento ink pad and colored it in with the Cherry Cobbler duo … then I used the Shimmery Crystal Effects to add some shine along with a sprinkle of Dazzling Diamonds Glitter …  Lilly loves sparkle. Yes, I added even more glitter!

DID YOU KNOW … they have coordinating dies to go with the Little Ladybug stamp set!! Here is a list of all the supplies used:

The background was easily created with Cherry Cobbler cardstock, Momento ink pad, and the eraser on the end of a pencil … ink it up and use the eraser like a stamp, it works great to create those ladybug dots.

I want to thank you for hanging out with me today … I hope you’ve learned how fun and easy it is to create with the Chalkboard technique. The line images in the Little Ladybug stamp set really makes the Chalkboard technique and Little Ladybug stamp set a perfect pairing.

Have a great day! Linda
