Dare to Dream card …

Happy Friday Stampers!

Whew … we made it.  Just kidding, I saw a poster that said that, but I must admit, I am happy the weekend is almost here.

Yesterday I told you that I would be sharing a card with you, that I created from a picture that inspired me.  I saw the picture on Pinterest and though it would make a beautiful card.

It’s hard to believe but I began with Whisper White cardstock!   Although the cardstock I used for matting  is Calypso Coral… my camera made it look a bit pink.  The background for the card was created entirely by sponging.

Here is my inspiration …

If you click on the picture… you can see it in all it’s grandeur, and if you look closely, you can see the elephants.  I hope you find it as inspiring as I did.  I often look at nature for inspiration in designing and in the color pallets I choose.

For my card, I started with the foreground or “land” part of the card.  I sponged Basic Gray ink, layering it to create highlights and low-lights.  Then I moved into the sunset … beginning with Daffodil Delight, Calypso Coral and then Marina Mist.    I added the clouds next, using the Whisper White Craft Ink.

The trees (from Serene Silhouettes) were stamped with the Black StazOn, as was the “Dare to Dream” from the Loving Thoughts stamp set.  If you click on the stamp set name, it will take you to the page so you can view the entire stamp set.

I hope you enjoyed today’s card and feel inspired to go outside and take a walk, or stamp a card for a friend… better yet, with a friend!

Have a great weekend,

Summer’s Coming…

Hello Stampers ~

Today I wanted to share a fun scrapbook page I did a while back, but he is so cute I had to share!

Such a quick and easy page to do.  You will need the Extra Large (119859) Oval Punch, the Large (119855) Oval Punch, and the Owl Builder (118074) Punch …. I used that for his eyes.  You will also need the 1″ Square (124094) Punch to create his legs and punch the ovals to make his claws!  I used circle and star punches to create the sun.

Although the alphabet used to create my title is no longer available… I suggest the “Notable Alphabet” – it’s fun and would look great on this page.

The waves are created using your favorite blue tones: I suggest Tempting Turquoise, Pacific Point, and Bermuda Bay!  Even sounds like the ocean!  The background (sky) is the tempting turquoise and the sand … Crumb Cake that was sponged to make it look more like sand.

Tear and layer the remaining blue tones and sponge the edges with Whisper White Craft Ink to create the illusion of waves.  I also gently sponged the clouds with the White Craft Ink.

Best Wishes …. for savings!

Hello Stampers ~

Today I am sharing two cards…  Stampin’ Up! is having a sale on some of our most popular stamp sets.  Two of mine, the “Petite Pairs” and “Sweet Essentials” are featured today!

First, is a card that I received as a “swap” from my Star’s team member, Cindy Schneider.   Our Star’s group meets once a month to stamp, swap, share ideas and business tips!  Not to mention … we have fun too.

To create this card, we embossed in white, the flower from ” Secret Garden” (pg. 94) and then sponged with “Pretty in Pink” ink.  Although that is one of the discontinued colors … there are plenty of pretty pinks you can use.  The “Oval Collection” framelits (129381 / pg. 186) was used to cut the flower pattern out and frame it with the scallop mat.

Oh  yes, I need to mention the contrasting cardstock is “Early Espresso”… I love the way espresso looks with the pastel colors (try it with Pool Party!)

The card was embellished with the butterflies from the “Beautiful Wings” Embosslit die… these dies emboss onto the butterfly and cut them out for us!  We also have buttons and heart embosslit dies, all are found on page 188 of the NEW Catalog.

I’m thrilled to tell you that the fabulous “Petite Pairs” stamp set, one of three that is currently ON SALE!

You can save 25% when you purchase one, two or all three of the stamp sets!

Now I’d like to share a card that I made a while back that features the “Sweet Essentials” (pg. 41) stamp set!  ON SALE.  And y0u’ll recognize the cake from yesterdays post … Make a Cake stamp set.

Little stampin’ tip …

If your making a special card for a wedding or special friend, embellish the inside of the card too!

It’s doesn’t take much, but it will leave a lasting impression.

Feel free to leave a comment about today’s post, I’d love to hear from you.

Have a great weekend and Happy Stampin’
