Background Technique: Using Dies for Inking Backgrounds

Hello Stampin’ Friends ~

Not sure how you feel about it, but the weekend sure does go by quickly! However, I have been busy playing with my stamps. Yesterday I shared a cute -n- quick card that highlighted the Honey Bee Bundle.  Here are my samples in both the portrait and landscape format.

Today, I’m going to share with you a fun technique that I found on Pinterest and wanted to share with you.  If you don’t have designer paper, this is a fun way to create a background … Use your “dies” as a stencil to create your background!!

I laid the smooth side against my cardstock and held it tight with my fingers, however, you can tack it down with washi tape or post it notes, and then you use your sponge daubers to dab ink within the die to create your background!  If you don’t like that you may get ink outside of the die … just die cut a piece of scrap paper and use that as your template.

You will notice that my card is pretty much like yesterday’s except for the “hand sponged” background and a couple more bee’s!! Of course … I did add the Wink of Stella to this one too.  I don’t know what it is, but it makes it look like gold!

The beehive is stamped in Crushed Curry and embellished with a swam of bees … well, we did create a honeycomb so they were busy creating the sweetness for this card.

So … what do you think? Fun background? I like getting my money’s worth out of the products that I buy and I can use them for more than one purpose … well, it draws me like bees to honey!!

Thank you so much for stopping back to check out my background technique.

Wishing you some sunshine and happiness today.

Today’s Stampin’ Supply List …

Simply Sunday: Wishing You Sunshine …

Hello Stampin’ Friends,

How are you on this rainy day? Well, I have a little sunshine to share with you today! Straight from the Honey Bee bundle. This super sweet card is easy to recreate and is sure to bring sunshine into the life of the person who receives it.

I realized that the designer paper was from Sale-a-bration but it’s so stinkin’ cute, I had to use it. I will come back tomorrow with another sample for you without the designer paper, just in case you didn’t get your hands on some. You’ll want to stop back and see it … we’ll “bee” creating a fun background.

My Simply Sunday cards focus on creating cute -n- easy cards … basically keeping to stamps and paper. Here I stamped the bee hive in Crushed Curry and the greeting in Black.  Our little bee was stamped, colored with the Crushed Curry Marker and die cut.  Normally I don’t use dies but … it’s much easier to die cut the bee than to hand cut him! lol  If you do have the designer paper, the small bee die will cut out the small bee on the designer paper!!

I added Wink of Stella to the bee hive and my little bee … the person who is getting this card has a sparkle in her eyes and a big fan of all thing glittery!  The original layout was designed as “portrait” but as I was ready to place the hive to the front of the card, I decided that a landscape layout worked better … all based on the bees on my designer paper.

Hope you enjoyed today’s quick -n- cute card and be sure to stop back tomorrow as I share an alternative to the designer paper.

I’d like to Thank you for stopping by today and wish you sunshine and happiness.

Here is a list of the products I used on today’s card…

Fun Fold with Guest Stamper Cathy C.

Hello Stampin’ Friends ~

Happy Valentines Day!!  It’s a bit chilly here in Wisconsin … -9° Burr!! However, today’s card will warm your heart. It was created by my friend and Star’s team member Kathy Czerwinski and she’s sharing it with all of us. She made a “fun fold” card to showcase the Honey Bee Bundle!!

Kathy’s top flap or front of the card highlights the Sale-a-bration Paper the “Golden Honey Specialty” Designer Series Paper …

and you will also see the die cut bee’s from the bundle.  The sweet little greeting “Hey, Lady” comes from our Hostess Stamp Set “Little Ladybug”. Get the adorable Little Ladybug Host Stamp Set FREE when you host a qualifying party or place a personal order totaling $300 or more during our Sale-A-Bration promotion (January 3–March 31, 2020).

Once you open the front of Kathy’s card …

You will find a “gate front” to the inside, decorated beautifully with another pattern from the “Golden Honey Specialty” Designer Series Paper … This is a FREE Sale-a-bration item with a qualifying purchase of $50 (before shipping and taxes).  I do want to mention the reason it’s called “Golden” and “Specialty” is because it has gold foil accents on some designs.

Let’s go through the gate ….

Kathy finishes off her card by stamping the bee from the Honey Bee Bundle and wishing a Happy Birthday.  I loved this card and was thrilled when Kathy said I could share it with you.

Hope you enjoyed it as much as I do.  If you have any questions, you can email me at lindaluvs2stamp@aol.com or just put your question in the message box below.  Someone else may have the same question as you 🙂
