Reflections on New Horizons

Hello Stampin’ Friends ~

I have four quick & easy cards from the New Horizons Designer paper to share with you today which includes a replay of a Facebook LIVE and a fifth card that last nights viewers did not get to see … This amazing bundle has “not” gone into the new catalog so it will retire in June.

Let’s start the fun off with the video

Each card has a Basic White base (8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″) and a Basic Black mat cut to 3-1/8″ x 3-1/8″. The New Horizons Designer paper 6″ x 6″ sheet is cut into equal pieces of 3″ x 3″.

My first card highlights the designer paper and one of the 5 greetings included in the stamp set…

The second card I made uses the same layout as the first and uses another greeting. I also want to mention that I “stamped on” the designer paper. A simple technique but one we forget. Adding something as simple as the birds to the paper, really adds to the card.

The third card adds a layer of cardstock and some texture. Using a card front cut to 4″ x 5-1/4″, I added some texture by “scoring” the lower portion … I scored at 1-1/4″ then turned the cardstock 180 degrees, then score at 1/2″, the move the piece back 1/8″ and score again. You will end up with 3 score lines (I turn my cardstock over so the score is raised).

I then stamped my greeting between the lines. Here is a view of all the dimension and texture we added to this card …

On the last of the four cards, I went wild with the texture! I used the Hammered Metal Embossing Folder, but if you look close … it could pass for pebbles, and I thought it would look great with this section of our designer paper.

And speaking of “pebbles” … I added the Pebbles Embellishments from the New Horizons Suite! Check out this texture … Aren’t those pebbles just perfect!?

OK … now I have one more card for you. During the video, Jenny commented that the back side of one of the squares looked “stormy”, so my next card highlights that piece of designer paper. Look close … I think there is a tornado dropping down (yikes!)

While the birds get the heck out of the storm … I thought that I would use the grasses dies from the suite as a silhouette. I let it hang off the side a bit to add some character … then I created the rain! I took my Wink of Stella and tapped it against a pen so it sprinkled over the designer paper.

Those white speckles are the Wink of Stella and I wish that you could see the sparkle … it’s amazing! And so is all of the different ways you can use this paper, the New Horizons product suite. Let me just say … “We’ve Only Just Begun”

Thank you for hanging out with me today, and I hope you are just as excited as I am for this new suite, and that you grab up this bundle and designer paper before it’s gone for good!

Have a wonderful day ~

Tips & Hacks for the Lighthouse Point Bundle

Hello Stampin’ Friends ~

I am excited to share last nights replay of my Facebook LIVE and the 2 cards that I made using the die cut pieces I shared with my attendees!

Let’s take a look at all that is included in the Lighthouse Point Bundle by Stampin’ Up! ….

Now … Let me show you what all those die cut pieces are for and how to make your own lighthouse!! Please note that this video was actually done in 2022, NOT 1922 as stated in the video!! You’ve got to love a LIVE broadcast! lol

NOW … I’d like to share 2 different cards using the die cuts I shared last night along with some of the ideas we shared. Let me start with the idea of recreating the Cana Island Lighthouse located in Door County Wisconsin …

You will notice that this lighthouse does not have the smooth edges that are dies do … However, the idea that “Beth” shared last night of using the brick embossing folder to create the “look” of the Cana Lighthouse worked great!! Check this out ….

I used the reverse side of the Brick Embossing Folder to the “morter” was raised and not the bricks. Then I did a “Mash Up” by using the designer paper from the New Horizons suite!

I’m so excited to share this with you! I truly believe that when we stamp together, our creativity just blooms! Thanks for the inspiration …

Now … I was so jazzed up from my LIVE and the way the card turned out, I just kept stamping!! We talked about the Cape Hatteras lighthouse and how it’s stripes and top were black sooo ….

Again … I brought in items from the New Horizons suite in to make this card including the “grass” dies and the Pebbles Enamel Shapes. Thanks again for spending the evening with me, and for joining me today.

Have a great day!! I have the supply list of items listed below if you were inspired and want to get creating.

Another Textured New Horizons Card

Hello Stampin’ Friends ~

Today I have the last of the cards I shared on my Tuesday LIVE (Replay Below) I’ll let you watch the replay if you missed it the other day.

Let’s take a look at the video. You can grab a cup of coffee (or your favorite beverage) and join me …

Did you catch the part where I said the card looked like it needed something. Well … I looked and looked and thought about a bunch of things to “add” something but just wasn’t getting the look I wanted … and then, I put 3 Brass Butterflies on and it pulled the card all together!

I think those 3 little butterflies tie the green bottom of the card with the water washed sunset … they draw your eye around the entire card …

I embossed the greeting with black embossing powder and it really makes it pop and bring out the black from our card base. I love that such a simple technique like using an embossing folder would create such a difference!

Thank you for checking back in with me!! Have an amazing day ~

Adding Texture to New Horizons

Hello Stampin’ Friends ~

Today I’ll be sharing my video replay of last nights Facebook LIVE along with the two cards. I showcasing the New Horizons Designer Paper and “embossing folders” … the folders will texture the paper so it looks like a canvas picture!

If you look closely you will see I actually die cut the mountains and embossed it right with the paper!! So much you can do with this …

Ok … just a little teaser there! Let’s take a look at the video. You can grab a cup of coffee (or your favorite beverage) and join me …

It is such a simple technique but creates such an amazing impact to your card. It’s as if the paper was designed for embossing it.

Measurements:

  • Basic Black: 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ Scored at 4-1/4″ fold in half
  • Designer Paper: 5-1/4″ x 4″ (to be embossed)
  • Basic White: 5-1/4″ x 4″ (inside of card)

The watercoloring look of this designer paper was made for this technique … I know I said that earlier but I think it looks so cool together!!

So I don’t take away from the designer paper, I like to use vellum … it allows an even flow of the imagery. I embossed with Gold Embossing powder and used the Label Me Lovely punch because I like the simple shape but it’s not a boring square! lol

I added the beautiful brass butterflies to draw your eye around the card and to bring it in to the focal point, which is our greeting.

So simple yet so pretty! Who knew that such a simple technique like using an embossing folder would create such a difference! I think we know (because we buy lots of embossing folders, but we forget we can emboss designer paper!!

Thank you for hanging out with me!! Have an amazing day ~

New Horizons Trio of Cards!

Hello Stampin’ Friends ~

Today I will be sharing the two cards that I made during my Facebook Live last night, plus another card I created with the left over designer paper from the second card! I used the New Horizons suite … and highlighted how amazing the coordinating dies look with the designer paper.

Let’s start the fun off with the video …

Now that you watched the video, let’s get a close up of those cards. The first card begins with a 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ Basic White card base. The New Horizons Designer paper was cut to 5″ x 4-3/4″ with a Basic Black mat that was cut to 5-1/8″ x 4-7/8″.

It’s amazing what a little ribbon and a die cut can do for a card … and it’s so easy to make because the “work” is already done for you with this stunning designer paper. Stampin’ Up! gets two thumbs up from me … I LOVE this Suite!

My second card highlights the fence and grasses die … It really does look like an invitation to walk into the sunset, doesn’t it!?

The stamping of the background is an old technique but one I pull out quite a bit. It really does create a sense of depth and texture without adding any bulk to your card, we’ll save that for our dies

The third card is actually the other half of the designer paper from our second card, and I simple cut the 5″ x 3″ piece into equal 1″ strips. I would suggest to cut down the 5″ to 4-3/4″ as it would make a nicer border around your card instead of going almost to the bottom.

This card has a few more layers but it is not hard to do, let’s start with our base;

  • The Evening Evergreen Base: 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ then score at 4-1/4″ and fold
  • The Evening Evergreen Mat: 5-1/4″ x 4″ … Textured with the Hammered Metal Embossing Folder
  • Designer Paper: Three strips of 1″ x 4-3/4″ with a mat of Basic Black (3) 1-1/8″ x 4-7/8″

These are all layered directly on top of each other but if you wanted to add additional dimension to your card, you could secure the layers with Stampin’ Dimensionals and pop them up.

The greeting was stamped in black and punched with the Tailored Tag punch. A second punch was done with Basic Black so we could mat the greeting … this has been popped up with dimensionals and embellished with the Silver & Clear Epoxy elements. I then colored them with the Stampin’ Blends.

Don’t forget … Sale-a-bration is in full swing and you will receive a FREE Sale-a-bration item with the purchase of this suite … Add the Take Your Pick Tool, the Silicone mat… whatever you’d like and you’ll have enough for 2 FREE items or a Level 2 Sale-a-bration item. CLICK HERE TO VIEW CATALOG

Thank you for hanging out with me today, and I hope you are just as excited as I am for this new suite, and that I’ve inspired you to get back in your stamp room! Have fun 🙂

New Year … New Horizons Card

Hello Stampin’ Friends ~

I am over the moon excited today!! Everyone’s favorite time of year is here … Sale-a-bration, but there’s more, the NEW January – June Mini Catalog also goes LIVE today!! There is sooo many cool bundles, suites and accessories in the catalog, I wasn’t sure where I wanted to start however, I grabbed my “favorite” designer paper in the catalog; New Horizons. It’s a WOW.

The New Horizons Designer paper is part of an entire suite which includes a bundle (stamp set & dies), the designer paper, embellishments and a ribbon pack. I will share a video that will show you all this suite has to offer … then I will be sharing a quick yet beautiful card that I made just for you today.

Was I right? Amazing … but I also want to share with you how easy this suite can be to use!! I also want to show that it’s perfect to use with other items you already have! Today’s card highlights the New Horizons Designer paper, the On the Horizon stamp set and the Beautiful Tree’s dies from the Annual Catalog! Oh yes, and I used the Black & White Gingham ribbon … I was thrilled that this carried over from the last mini 🙂

I began with a Basic Black cardbase, as I saw this design as a renewal … with the color in the sky and the grass turning green. I think this is the most intriguing part of this paper, you can interpret it as you want, and create from there!!

I attached the die cut tree and then my ribbon to the designer paper that I cut to 4″ x 5-1/4″. Then I stamped three little birds and my greeting onto the card front … the ribbon was a helper in aligning my stamp! Then I simply mounted it onto the base.

I feel in love with this paper, and then drawn into the bundle … If you would like to see even more ideas for this amazing suite, join me tonight at 6:30 Central Time for my Facebook Live … I will be highlighting this suite and showing some cool things you can do with it.

Thank you for dropping by and joining me, and I hope you accept my invitation to join me tonight on my Facebook page to discover more about this interesting suite!

Have a wonderful day ~
