Introducing … Endless Birthday Wishes Stamp Set

Hello Stampin’ Friends,

Stampin’ Up! just released another Photopolymer Stamp Set … Endless Birthday Wishes.  I love the ability to “say it the way you want” by putting together these fun greetings.  The handwritten font is fun and easy to read!

6a00e54f95df92883401a3fd08a5aa970b-500wi

Today I am sharing a quick post from our “Inspired By” blog from Stampin’ Up! and Concept Artist: Jen C.

She has some really cute cards and projects that were just to precious not to share with you!

Endless Birthday Wishes

Working for Stampin’ Up! is an incredible experience. There are so many great opportunities—such as the chance to design stamp sets. Our employees and demonstrators have accepted me into the Stampin’ Up! family and have embraced my unique skills and abilities. I’m continually growing as a person and an artist. I feel blessed to be a part of something so amazing!

I’m excited to share our newest photopolymer set, Endless Birthday Wishes (Item# 137553), which includes some of my handwritten words and drawings. It’s similar to the set we offered for the holidays last year called Endless Wishes. The concept is that you can build lots of different birthday greetings (and more) by combining the handwritten words with typed words and phrases. And with photopolymer stamps (US/CA), grouping words and phrases together is simple.

Enjoy! I’m excited to see what you make with this new set.

I loved her ideas!  Jen has totally sold me on this awesome new set, and I’m putting my order in today!  Here is the flyer with all the details …

Thinking of You Swap Card …

Hello Stampin’ Friends,

Hope all you Mom’s had a wonderful day yesterday!

Today I am going to share with you another swap card from our Spring Retreat.  The guest stamper is Eileen S.  This card is so pretty, I’m sure you’ll agree.

000_1063

Eileen used the Serene Silhouettes stamp set.  This is another one of those versatile   stamp sets that can be used for women or men.   Eileen put a feminine flare to this card by adding the butterfly image.  The butterfly image was punched out using the 1-3/4″ Circle Punch.

The colors used on this card are Sahara Sand, Early Espresso and Whisper White.  The Sahara Sand cardstock was embossed with the “Fancy Fan” embossing folder.

000_1062

The “Thinking of You” greeting comes from the stamp set “Wetlands” … I think this font coordinates well with the Serene Silhouettes stamp set.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Have a wonderful week ~

Happy Mother’s Day! (Sneak Peek)

Happy Mother’s Day to all my stampin’ friends,

Wishing all you Mom’s out there a wonderful and peaceful day.  And a big “Welcome” to all my new friends who have recently signed up to follow my blog.

What better gift could I give than to share a “sneak peek” from our upcoming 2014-15 Annual Catalog.  I chose a beautiful flower … the new “Blended Bloom”.  It was love at first sight, and I knew I had to have this one.

000_1054

My base card is Cherry Cobbler and Whisper White.  The flower is stamped with the new “Momento” Ink pad.  Looks a lot like the StazOn, but does not smell as good.  It is however designed to work with the new “Blendabilities” markers.

Most of the blendabilities come in a 3-pack.  I have used the Daffodil Delight and the Cherry Cobbler Assortments.  They are really easy to work with.  If you like to color and take your time blending … it’s your dream.  However, if you like a quick color, they work pretty nice for that too.  It did not take me long to color in and blend these colors together.

I added a bit of “lace” for Mom with the “Delicate Details” lace tape.  Holy cow is that easy to work with!!  It’s lightly tacky so you can place it down, and then reposition if you have too.  No adhesive needed … just assembly 🙂  I also tucked a strip of the lace on the inside of my card too.

000_1055

My Mother’s Day greeting comes for the “Delightful Dozen” stamp set and is stamped in Cherry Cobbler.  I regret to say that this fabulous set in on the retirement list 😦

I hope you enjoyed the sneak peak.  I’m sure you’ll be seeing a lot more of that flower from me!

Thank you so much for taking time out of your Mother’s Day to visit with me and my blog.

Happy Mother’s Day and Happy Sunday to all ~

Happy Retirement … Masculine Card

Hello Stampin’ Friends,

Today I’m going to share a simple card you can easily recreate for your loved ones that are heading into retirement.  It seems to be that time of year!  We know all to well that this is the time of year Stampin’ Up! retires stamp sets and accessories to make room for the new!

My card is geared more towards a man, but I know of few women who are avid outdoors “women” so it would be perfect for them too.

000_1049

I began with the “Wetlands” stamp set.  I use this stamp set a lot … the greetings alone are worth the price, and I love, love, love, that wheat!  And, well the birds … what can I say “they’re perfect”.  I wanted the goose to stand out so I framed it using the “Ovals Collection” framelits.

And … what works better for an outdoor card than the “Woodgrain” embossing folder!  To make this pop even more, I brayered Crumb Cake Ink over the Crumb Cake cardstock!  You actually brayer after the cardstock is embossed.  It’s a simple technique and really makes the embossing stand out, and give it a real two-tone appearance.

000_1051

The goose was stamped with the StazOn™ ink and colored with the use of the Blender pens and Crumb Cake and Old Olive ink pads!  Easy 🙂

For my greeting, I chose the “Happy Retirement” for “Tiny Tiny Wishes” … I’m so happy that did not retire!  It has so many occasions and it pairs perfectly with the “Word Window” and “Modern Label” punches.

If you are ready for retirement… I wish you a happy one!

Thank you for dropping by today and …

Have an awesome weekend!

Mother’s Day Idea …

Hello my Stampin’ Friends,

Oh my … sorry I missed a post but I’m having technical difficulties with my internet services lately.  Seems to be a lot of technical difficulties in my life lately!   LOL   Yes, I laugh (now) … life really is too short.

So I am sharing a quick post from our “Inspired By” blog from Stampin’ Up! and Senior Staff Writer; Cindy B.

I loved her fabulous idea, and I love how she doubled her flowers!!  We made flowers at our Spring Retreat, now I’m going to try it this way too!  Not to worry … I’ll be sure to share with you!

Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day is fast approaching—so I thought I would make a few Mother’s Day projects to let my dear mom know that I am thinking of her!

This picture was taken of my mom in Northern Michigan in 1933–when she was three-years-old.  She loves remembering her happy childhood in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.  Her Finnish grandfather, a dairy farmer, used to let her ride with him in the morning as he delivered milk to the neighbors in his Model T. She still thinks of him all of the time!

To make cute tags for your Mother’s Day gifts, just scan and print favorite pictures of your mom on Whisper White Cardstock, then punch them out. (To give her an especially fun surprise, try to find pictures that she hasn’t seen for ages!)  The frame for my mom’s tag was made using the Chalk Talk and Papillon Potpourri Stamp Sets. To make a glittery jar for flowers or some other gift, just paint the lower half of a mason jar with Mod Podge. Then sprinkle on some gold glitter and let it dry. That’s it!

I made the roses using the Big Shot and Stampin’ Up!’s new Spiral Flower Originals Die. To see a wonderful demonstration showing you how to make flowers using this die, click here! (To make fuller flowers, use two spiral flower die cuts layered on top of each other.)

Here are a couple of more fun ways to conceal sweet surprises for mom on her special day.

Got any fun ideas for Mother’s Day? Please share them on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, or Pinterest with the #MadeForMom hashtag!

My 2014 Annual Stampin’ Retreat Swaps …

Hello Stampin’ Friends,

Today I am sharing with you just some of the swap cards that were exchanged at my annual Spring Retreat.  I must say … there was a lot of talent in our group this retreat!   All of the cards were wonderful.

Our first guest stamper is: Karie K.   I love the beautiful color combination Karie used with the “Polka Dot Pieces” stamp set.  Love the fold and the use of the “Scallop Tag Topper Punch”!  What a wonderful way to express birthday wishes!

100_2379

Our next Guest Stamper is Linda K.  This beautiful card shimmers with delight!  Linda’s choice to team up the “Brushed Gold” cardstock and Striped Gold Vellum in matching envelope is brilliant.   The vellum and the stamp set “Happy Congratulations” can both be found in the “Celebrate the Everyday” catalog.

100_2382

My next guest stamper is:  KATHY C.   Another fun fold card.  Like Karie’s Scallop Punch, Kathy used the “Angled Tag Topper Punch”, and used one of my favorite designer papers – Quarterfancy Specialty paper.   The beautiful flower is from the “Love & Sympathy” stamp set.

100_2381

Our next Guest Stamper is: OLIVIA H.  I just love the colorful way Olivia  say’s she’s “Thinking of You” which comes from the stamp set “Kind & Cozy”.  And who doesn’t love the “Gingham Garden Washi Tape”!  Sad to see that leaving the catalog 😦  Olivia finishes off her beautiful card with the “Elegant Butterfly” and the “Pearls”.

100_2384

My last Guest Stamper is: BARB L.  It is also the WINNER of our card contest.  Each guest votes for their favorite and Barb won a $25 Gift Certificate for more Stampin’ Up! products of her choice!

100_2383

I hope you enjoyed the sneak peek at our our retreat swaps.  I love having all the wonderful ideas and samples.  Like I said earlier … a lot of talented ladies came to stamp.  Maybe someday I’ll post more.

I’ll post a list of the main ingredients below,  that were used in the swaps.  Just click on them for more information or to purchase.

Home Again …

Hello Stampin’ Friends,

I have returned from my 2014 Spring Retreat … it was a wonderful time with a wonderful group of ladies.

They were welcomed with the banner I created using the kit that was free during Sale-a-bration.  I used the Silver Glimmer paper for the letters and dyed them just like the Easter eggs.  If you missed that post you can find it under the Scrapbooking or Technique Category list on the right side.

100_2353

The cute little flower pots were bought at the dollar store.  I added foam and moss for a more realistic look.  I wrapped the flower that was cut from the “Spiral Flower Originals Die” from the “Celebrate Everyday” catalog.  I put the link for you to view at the bottom of this blog.

100_2352

After dinner we gathered around the table to make additional flowers with the lollipops and a cute little flower kiss (Not Shown: Cased from Connie Stewart).

100_2355

The ladies picked a flower pot and added to their bouquet!   We even made a couple flowers to go on our banner … here’s the updated look 🙂

Tomorrow I will share some of the swaps!  There was a lot of stampin’ talent this weekend!

Thank you for stopping by and …

Have a wonderful week!

Project Life … Getting Started!

Hello Stampin’ Friends,

Some of you know that I am at my 2014 Annual Spring Retreat, but I didn’t want to miss a post, so I thought I would share with you one of our Concept Artists thoughts on how to get started with Project Life  …

Project Life: Getting Started!

I am a Project Life convert through and through. I first heard about Project Life a couple of years ago by reading Ali Edwards’s blog. I was so intrigued by the whole concept. It seemed so simple to focus on taking photos and recording memories—something that I had been struggling with in my personal albums.I have loved memory keeping for a long time but I just dabbled in it because it overwhelmed me. I am such a perfectionist, and I would spend hours and hours on my scrapbook pages. I had so many photos and so many memories I wanted to record. There was never enough time to document everything, and I was always so behind.

After having my first daughter in 2009 I got really jazzed about recording our new journey. I started a baby album and tried so hard to stay on top of it, but I was spending too much time on it and getting nowhere. After a little while I pretty much gave up because I was so behind and overwhelmed by the whole thing.
When I came across Project Life I knew I had my answer. I love everything about Project Life. I love all the pockets that can so easily be filled with memories and photos. I love all of the predesigned pocket cards. I love that I can get so many of my photos off my computer and out for my family to look at. I love that I have a place to document the simple everyday moments along with the big ones. I love that I have a place to save all of the little ticket stubs and mementos that I gather. I love adding fun little embellishments to my cards and photos when I have the time and I need a creative outlet. I love that if I just want to get my pages done quickly, I don’t have to fuss around with embellishing things . . . but my pages still look great. Everything about Project Life makes me happy.

If you are new to Project Life, I have put together a few tips I have learned along the way to help get you started recording your life.

Take photos with intention. What are the things that you want to remember? If you made something awesome for dinner . . . take a picture of it. Did you have a fun girls’ night out? Take a picture! Did you go for a walk with a beautiful sunset? Take a picture. We all know to take photos of the big, important events in our lives, but I think the simple moments in our lives are just as meaningful and important to document.

Decide which approach works best for you. Do you want to record your life on a weekly basis, on a monthly basis, or just whenever? There is no right or wrong way to do this. I like working on a monthly basis and adding inserts when I need to, but that might not work for you. Play around and have fun finding out what makes this process of recording your life the easiest and most enjoyable for you.

Jot down the things you want to remember. Carry a notebook in your purse, write ideas in your phone, or write in a journal at the end of the day. When you come across a quote that moves you . . . write it down. When your kid says or does something that you don’t want to forget . . . write it down. If you had a great day . . . write it down. This makes it so much easier when you want to add journaling to your pages.

Save things from your life to include in your album. A tag from your shopping spree, a bag from your favorite boutique that you can cut down to fit into a pocket, happy mail, a birthday card, a ticket stub from a good movie—there are so many fun ways to include bits and pieces from your life.

Set aside time to work on your pages. Make it a priority in your busy life to sit down and get your memories written down and your photos printed off. Doing tasks in chunks is easier than trying to do everything in a big marathon session. Take an hour to go through photos and print them off. Later, sit down for another hour to write down memories onto cards and slip things into page protectors. Take another hour or 30 minutes to play around with embellishing and getting creative if that’s what makes you happy. Again, there is no right or wrong way to do this. Just have fun, and in the end you will have something that you and your family will cherish forever!
