Simply Sunday … A Splash of Color: Our 2020-2022 In Colors

Hello Stampin’ Friends ~

Hope you are enjoying this beautiful weekend, and thanks for stopping by! Yesterday I shared the new 2020-22 In Color; Magenta Madness! Today I have samples made using the rest of the 2020-22 In Colors: Bumblebee, Cinnamon Cider, Just Jade and Misty Moonlight.

The card features one 2-1/2″ x 2-1/2″ piece of pattern paper from the 2020-22 In Colors Designer Series paper.  The photo shows the other patterns along with the ribbon and the enamel dots.

I made all of the samples using the 2020-22 In Color Designer paper with the “dots” and teamed it with different sentiments from the New “Tasteful Touches” stamp set.  Let me introduce you to “Bumblebee” …

Just like yesterday … I embossed it with the “Subtle” embossing folder and punched two daisies out of Whisper White with the “Medium Daisy” punch.

If you like warm earth tone, you will fall in love with the new Cinnamon Cider ….

These cards are cute and easy for you to recreate and with the different sentiments, you can’t go wrong.  You can also save by buying your cardstock in the “assortment” instead of purchasing each of the color packages.

The next color, Just Jade is a beautiful “jewel” tone …

Each color to me … is a reflection of nature, which is why the jewel tones go so well with the earth tones, they have all been created by nature.

Finally comes Misty Moonlight ….

I have still not picked out a favorite, they are all beautiful and they go together so well.  They are also compatible with many, many of our current colors.  I will be sharing some combinations in future postings.

Which one is “your” favorite?

Thanks again for taking time out of your day to join me.

Something Old … Something New: Magenta Madness

Hello Stampin’ Friends ~

Today I’d like to share one of the new 2020-22 In Colors: Magenta Madness! Such a pretty bright pink color … just makes you happy! With the new catalog going live in just days (June 3rd) I wanted to share some new, mixed with some old.  With a new catalog, we don’t want to forget about those wonderful products that have been our “go to’s” … they will work together splendidly!!

Check this out …

The card features one 2-1/2″ x 2-1/2″ piece of pattern paper from the 2020-22 In Colors Designer Series paper.  The photo shows the other patterns along with the ribbon and the enamel dots.

I started with a Whisper White card base.  I choose the 2020-22 In Color Designer paper with the “dots” on it as my focal point. The front of the card; which is Magenta Madness was stamped with a greeting from the New “Tasteful Touches” stamp set.

Once I had stamped the cardstock … I embossed it with the “Subtle” embossing folder. It adds a soft texture to the card. Then I punched two daisies out of Whisper White with the “Medium Daisy” punch … both of these items can be found in the current catalog and will be available to use with all your new goodies.

With a little adhesive and a few Stampin’ Dimensionals our card is completed. Cute and easy for you to recreate. Let me know if you have any questions of the new products, or if you need a new catalog or are looking for a demonstrator.

My focus is to help you create beautiful, simple cards and teach you some fun stamping tips.

Thanks for joining me today.

Watercoloring with Pigment Sprinkles

Hello Stampin’ Friends ~

Today I’ve got 3 cards I’d like to share with you that highlights watercoloring with Pigment Sprinkles and the alluring “Beautiful Day” stamp set. Both are slated for retirement and will be gone after June 2nd.

Water coloring is so easy … just sprinkle and spritz!!  I do use the AquaPainters to help move some of the water around. You will want to begin with our watercolor paper … I like to secure it with some washi tape.  The washi tape will hold it down after you spritz with water.

I believe in … “Less is More”, start out light with both your Pigment Sprinkles and then with the water. You can always add more but it’s a little harder to take away. However … if you have to “take away” and pull off some of that water – grab some paper towels, they soak up nicely.

Check out our first sample with our flower …

Our flower was cut out and mounted onto some designer paper in black and white, this really makes the flower pop.

Using the sample layout …

Even when you bring in some color, the flower still pops.  By embossing the background with the Layered Leaves (also retiring) you add some texture that compliments the flower.

I have one more sample for you … this one highlights the pretty butterfly from the set.

After this one dried, I added the Wink of Stella and some glitter dots to add a little sparkle … so pretty.  I wish I could have found the purple one, also …. very pretty.

This is such a fun and easy technique and you can experiment with colors and really create an amazing butterfly or flower.

Thanks so much for stopping by today, hope I sparked some interest in trying your hand at watercoloring. Save some time to enjoy this upcoming weekend, it’s supposed to be wonderful outside.

Have a great day ~

Memorial Day Tribute …

Hello Stampin’ Friends ~

Memorial Day honors the men and women who died while serving in the United States military…a somber but important day each year.

However, the weekend also gives us an opportunity to stop and remember those veterans who have taken a Stars and Stripes Honor Flight and have recently passed away.  I share this video in honor of my Brother-In-Law Art Schroeder who we lost only one week after he was on the Honor Flight this past November.  He served in Vietnam … he will be in the third section of this memorial

What an amazing opportunity it is to be a part of welcoming these veterans home as they returned from their Honor Flight. I will do it again … I am so thankful for our Veterans.  May they find peace as they join their brothers and sisters that we honor today.

We you Art

The reason poppies are used to remember those who have given their lives in battle is because they are the flowers which grew on the battlefields after World War One ended. This is described in the famous World War One poem In Flanders Fields.  Today, it remains an iconic symbol of honor for the sacrifice of our veterans.

Thank you for taking time out of this day to stop by and view my post. These poppies are beautiful and the thoughts behind them can range from sympathy to joy … aren’t flowers amazing?

Enjoy your day and take a moment to remember those who gave all … to give us our freedoms.

Simply Sunday: Sneak Peek Forever Fern

Hello Stampin’ Friends ~

I’m excited to share a NEW stamp set with you today! Yes, it comes with all the bells & whistles in the product suite; dies, designer paper, embossing folders … oh my!!  But today, we are taking it back to the basics; Stamps … Ink … and cardstock. Simply beautiful.

The new Forever Fern is filled with beautifully designed realistic foliage, and will steal the show when you create with this set! Just take a look …

So much beautiful foliage to choose from … I picked 3 different types of leaves, the speckles and the greeting.  There are four ink colors: Pear Pizzazz, Garden Green, Shaded Spruce and Pretty Peacock.

The little skinny leaf foliage was stamped in Garden Green, I then stamped the “bushy” foliage in the Pear Pizzazz and the little leaves were stamped in the Shaded Spruce.  The greeting and the speckles were done in the Pretty Peacock.

I love those little speckles … they really do seem to tie everything together so nicely and adds some dimension to a “stamped only” card. This is perfect for beginner stampers as you can get beautifully hand stamped cards with a small investment.

Those of you who have to have it all … well, that is there for you as well!  With coordinating dies, embossing folders and embellishments, you are going to have a blast!!  Don’t worry … I’ll be sharing samples of some “jazzed” up cards for you.

We all need quick cards once in a while and this will fit the bill for either a feminine card or … you can most definitely make a masculine card with this set.

Enjoy your Saturday, and I thank you for dropping in to check out my blog.

Here is a list of today’s card supplies: The Forever Fern will be available for purchase on June 3rd, when the 2020-21 Catalog goes live …

Oh Happy Day!

Hello Stampin’ Friends ~

I’m back today to share 2 cute cards with you.  The card that was in my head did not come out the way I wanted … seems I can’t manipulate a stamp on paper like I can in my head! lol  So the first card I’m sharing is actually the second card I made.

If you remember the Paper Pumpkin cards I shared yesterday …

Well, I took the parts of 2 of these cards to reconstruct “my alternative”!!  I started with a Whisper White card base and added a piece of Pumpkin Pie cardstock after embossing it with the Subtle embossing folder.

I then took the bright and fun card front from their “Your Amazing” card and added it to my card front … I did put a piece of velum behind it, this was included in the kit.  I thought it looked a bit like a rainbow of different colors of course, so I added the clouds from the “Hey” card.  Here is what I came up with …

It’s on the simple side but it’s Oh so colorful and looks like a whole lot of fun!!

My second card is part of what I had in my head when I was thinking about what alternatives I could do with this “colorful” kit.  I knew right away that I wanted to use the unicorn from the “Leave a Little Sparkle” for my alternative … the bright colors in the kit was a perfect pairing.

I started with the bright card base from the “Hey” card and then cut the base of the “Your Amazing” card (above) and added it to the front of my cardbase… this is where I stamped my greeting …

Oh my gosh … my granddaughter is going to LOVE this card!! To highlight the beautiful unicorn, I colored his mane in multiple colors and then added Wink of Stella. Oh how I wish this would have shown up on the picture … it is amazing!  To finish off my card, I added those cute little embellishments that were in the kit as well.

I love playing with these kits and seeing how well they pair up with other stamp sets … don’t forget, you get a stamp set in each kit!  These are exclusive to the Paper Pumpkin kits.

Hope I’ve added a little more fun and color to your day today. If you would like to subscribe to Paper Pumpkin and give it a test run, I have the links listed for you below.

Thank you for stopping back and joining me today.  Hope your weather is as beautiful as ours is here today.  Enjoy …

OH … the border dies and beautiful!! And the flowers are blooming right on time.  I can’t wait to get my hands on on these!! Let take a look at some of the samples …

You will see a nice selection of what is included in the product suite on this card.  The beautiful designer paper is blooming with color!  The delicate die cut mat behind the greeting, which is then highlighted by some stamped images and adorned with the beautiful ribbon.

This pretty card shows off the pretty embossing folder, upon that is layers the stamped floral arrangement.  The greeting is embellished with some of the cute die cut flowers and all tied up with the ribbon.

This little cutie was created with the designer paper and then lightly colored. The flowers dance across the card with this edgelit die … one of my favorites!! There is just so much you can do with this suite.

Enjoy your day ~

Background Technique: Using Dies for Inking Backgrounds

Hello Stampin’ Friends ~

Not sure how you feel about it, but the weekend sure does go by quickly! However, I have been busy playing with my stamps. Yesterday I shared a cute -n- quick card that highlighted the Honey Bee Bundle.  Here are my samples in both the portrait and landscape format.

Today, I’m going to share with you a fun technique that I found on Pinterest and wanted to share with you.  If you don’t have designer paper, this is a fun way to create a background … Use your “dies” as a stencil to create your background!!

I laid the smooth side against my cardstock and held it tight with my fingers, however, you can tack it down with washi tape or post it notes, and then you use your sponge daubers to dab ink within the die to create your background!  If you don’t like that you may get ink outside of the die … just die cut a piece of scrap paper and use that as your template.

You will notice that my card is pretty much like yesterday’s except for the “hand sponged” background and a couple more bee’s!! Of course … I did add the Wink of Stella to this one too.  I don’t know what it is, but it makes it look like gold!

The beehive is stamped in Crushed Curry and embellished with a swam of bees … well, we did create a honeycomb so they were busy creating the sweetness for this card.

So … what do you think? Fun background? I like getting my money’s worth out of the products that I buy and I can use them for more than one purpose … well, it draws me like bees to honey!!

Thank you so much for stopping back to check out my background technique.

Wishing you some sunshine and happiness today.

Today’s Stampin’ Supply List …

Simply Sunday: Wishing You Sunshine …

Hello Stampin’ Friends,

How are you on this rainy day? Well, I have a little sunshine to share with you today! Straight from the Honey Bee bundle. This super sweet card is easy to recreate and is sure to bring sunshine into the life of the person who receives it.

I realized that the designer paper was from Sale-a-bration but it’s so stinkin’ cute, I had to use it. I will come back tomorrow with another sample for you without the designer paper, just in case you didn’t get your hands on some. You’ll want to stop back and see it … we’ll “bee” creating a fun background.

My Simply Sunday cards focus on creating cute -n- easy cards … basically keeping to stamps and paper. Here I stamped the bee hive in Crushed Curry and the greeting in Black.  Our little bee was stamped, colored with the Crushed Curry Marker and die cut.  Normally I don’t use dies but … it’s much easier to die cut the bee than to hand cut him! lol  If you do have the designer paper, the small bee die will cut out the small bee on the designer paper!!

I added Wink of Stella to the bee hive and my little bee … the person who is getting this card has a sparkle in her eyes and a big fan of all thing glittery!  The original layout was designed as “portrait” but as I was ready to place the hive to the front of the card, I decided that a landscape layout worked better … all based on the bees on my designer paper.

Hope you enjoyed today’s quick -n- cute card and be sure to stop back tomorrow as I share an alternative to the designer paper.

I’d like to Thank you for stopping by today and wish you sunshine and happiness.

Here is a list of the products I used on today’s card…
