Technique Tuesday & Weekly Deals

Hello Stampin’ Friends,

So … How did you like the “Glitter Paper” technique yesterday?  So simple, and so pretty!  Well that brings me to my exciting announcement…  I am featuring a “technique” each Tuesday!  Yep, Technique Tuesday and it begins today with the wonderful “Chalkboard” technique!

I also have the weekly deals for you … and are they great!  I have them all, so look forward to seeing some projects made with a few of these items!

Today’s card share is simple to do, and looks so nostalgic with the Chalkboard Technique.  I have chosen “Another Great Year” stamp set as my featured set today.

BIRTHDAY

I have seen several ways to do this technique … here is my take on it.  Simply begin with a piece of Basic Black cardstock and wipe your embossing buddy across it.  This will help keep the stray embossing powder off your card and gives you the appearance as if you just wiped off a chalk board!  At least you don’t have to clean the erasers!  Ooops … showing my age again!

Next, ink up your desired image with the white CRAFT ink.  I like to flip my stamps so the rubber is up when inking … it gives you much more control and you can see how exactly where you are placing the ink.

000_0853

Stamp image onto black cardstock…. Sprinkle the White embossing powder over your inked area, tap off excess, and emboss with heat gun.

Now you can add some designs, or color in parts of the image with our fabulous “Stampin’ Chalk Marker”.  It was meant for this technique and is fun and easy to use.  Here I highlighted part of the banner and added a simple border around the card.

000_0856

You can use this technique alone as your focal point as I did today, or frame it with one of our beautiful designer series papers – that would really make it pop!  My technique clubs made Christmas cards using this technique, so feel free to experiment … and have fun.

The Chalkboard technique is really hot right now … just take a look around, you’ll be surprised  at how many different places you will find it.

Thanks for visiting me today ~

Watercolor Birthday …

Hello Stampin’ Friends,

Another round of snow to deal with yesterday.  You just never know how big your driveway is until you have to shovel it … twice!  Well … if I look at the bright side, I did get some much needed exercise today 🙂

Today’s card share was inspired by a questions from my stampin’ friend Kathie.  She wanted to know what you would do with the “watermark” stamp in the “Happy Watercolor” stamp set.  So here’s one idea …

000_0795

I decided to do a rainbow effect with the stamp.  I chose Real Red, Elegant Eggplant, Pacific Point, Gumball Green and Daffodil Delight inks.  I did stamp off … after inking up my stamp, before stamping it onto my card front.

I think the hardest part of creating this card is keeping a straight line.  Once my watermarks were done, I chose the Happy Birthday stamp from the “Perfectly Penned” stamp set.

I matted it with Basic Black and added a black taffeta bow.  I did not realize until the card was completed and I was writing down my ingredients that I found out that ribbon is discontinued.  I think I will be sorting out my ribbons better this weekend!

I don’t like to use items that you cannot purchase, however you could substitute this ribbon for the pretty 1/8″ Black Taffeta or the 1/4″ Pacific Point Stitched Taffeta Ribbon.

000_0793

To finish off my card, I added my trusty rhinestones in the corner … colored black with a Sharpie.  It just anchors the card.

Hope you enjoyed today’s colorful watercolor birthday.  Stop back tomorrow for another card using the “watermark” stamp and “Happy Watercolor” stamp set.

Have a wonderful day ~

The Fab Four …

Hello Stampin’ Friends,

A happy Sunday to you!  I hope you are having a fabulous weekend.  I have been in my stampin’ studio creating all weekend … it’s been far too long since I spent an entire day stamping.

Let me start by saying that “YOU” inspire me!  Yesterday I showed you a simple card and said… “Just think of all the wonderful cards you could make using this layout and some designer series paper!”  So I went into my Stampin’ Studio and created “the Fab Four” just for you!

Now … my “Fab Four” are not the Beatles, however I think it is amazing that they are being honored tonight … “The Night That Changed America: A GRAMMY Salute To The Beatles” on CBS Television Network tonight … Sunday, Feb. 9 at  8 p.m. ET/PT — exactly 50 years to the day, date, and time of the original event – the Ed Sullivan Show.

USPress_05_sm

My “Fab Four” are much easier to recreate … LOL  I decided to use the same stamp set as I did on yesterday’s card; A Dozen Thoughts.  Then I chose the “Quarterfancy Specialty Paper.  All 4 cards will use these two items.  The punch and ribbons will change slightly.

Let’s take a look at the first card share following the exact same layout as yesterday …

000_0732

I replaced the heart with the butterfly and the red ribbon to white.  A totally different look, just by changing out the paper and greeting; “you made my day” in Island Indigo!  I will have a list of ingredients at the end of the post.

Next you will notice a slight change, as the specialty paper is the “clear patterned” paper.  It allows you to use any color … I chose the Pink Pirouette and the “it’s a girl” greeting.  With the use of the large oval punch and the basic pearls, you can create a simply elegant baby card.

Its a girl

My third card share … I moved the ribbon down closer to the bottom of the card and stamped my “Wish Big” greeting directly onto the new “Essentials Wooden Elements” .  They can be found in the Occasions Catalog.

Now remember, these cards look totally different but I am only using 1 designer paper packet … don’t you love it!

000_0739

For the last card to round out my “Fab Four” … I changed it up by creating a horizontal card.  Same card pattern, of a ribbon, designer paper, and a greeting!  The button comes from the “Naturals Designer Buttons” found in our big catalog and idea book.

000_0738

Banners are “hot” right now, so that is why you see them on two of my four cards… besides they look cool.  Just like the hairdo’s the Beatles had when they first arrived here in the US.

So I hope you enjoyed my “Fab Four”…  One simple pattern, one designer paper packet, and one stamp set can be your basic tools to create many different card looks.

Thank you so much for spending a part of your day with me.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend ~

Card Samples from the Best of 25 …

Hello Stampin’ Friends,

Yesterday I shared some of my favorite “Best of 25 Years” stamp sets.  So today … I thought it would be fun to share some of the card samples that I have saved that highlight these stamp sets.  I will admit that some of these may or may not be my cards… they could be from swaps or photos from Stampin’ Up! events.

So here is to reminiscing  ….

Ok … the first one, “Best of Autumn” is not the exact pail of apples, but I did find one that was very similar.  If my memory serves me, this is a card that we did at a 10-4-10 card making event.5870-1432685

The five-piece Best of Autumn Stamp Set brings together some beautiful fall images, along with a never-before-seen “Give Thanks” stamp that makes this the perfect set for your autumn projects!

I could not find even one sample from the “Best of Birthday’s” … so I shared a fun card from “yester-year” that you could copy with any of the images here.

This card touches my heart … it comes from a set of cards that we made at a “Stamp Out Cancer” class.  With each stamp set purchased, a donation was made a cancer foundation.  So here is just one of those beautiful cards …

Did you know that every year Monarch butterflies migrate from Canada to Mexico, and that the migration might span multiple generations of butterflies?

Impressive.

I chose the “deer” to highlight the “Best of Christmas” stamp set.  He (or she) is so pretty!  We made this card at one of our Holiday 10-4-10 events.

That’s right; it’s time to start thinking about Christmas again. Lucky for you, as part of our 25-year Anniversary celebration we’ve brought back three of our favorite images from Christmas past, and created a never-before-seen image that coordinates perfectly with the Christmas Ornament Punch.

For the “Best of Greetings” I picked the “With Sympathy” … This must have been a swap card, because I do not recall doing this beautiful card at one of my events.  Kudo’s to the creator of this card –Untitled03

So many candles … so little cake!

Hello Stampin’ Friends,

Hope you had an awesome weekend!  I heard it was “hot” outside, so I never ventured out … I’ll get my share of the heat today!  I always wondered why it was either “way too hot” or raining on the days I hold my stamp camps.  Must be God’s way of telling me I picked a good day to stay inside and stamp!

With so many birthday’s in my family coming up, I thought I would share another birthday card with you today.  It’s quick and easy to make and as promised, I’m using the “Birthday Basics” Designer Series paper again.  I just love the new “Smoky Slate” color, so I used that as the base of my card.

000_0124

As you can see, I changed up the fold of the card a bit today.  I had my share of measuring things being in the  Quality Assurance field for over 20+ years … so, I just folded in the larger (left) side past the center point of the card, then I folded the what was left of the cardstock up to meet the edge!  I did use my bone folder to crisp up the folds.

000_0125

000_0130

I pulled out the BigShot for this card, as I do on many… once you start, it’s hard to stop.  Kind of like a good bowl of ice cream!  After stamping the greeting from the “Bring on the Cake” stamp set … I cut them out using the Circle Framelit dies.  And since I was already using it, I thought I would try out my new “Envelope Liners” Framelit Die.  Now that’s what I call coordinating your card and envelope!

I also embossed the mat to my greeting with the “Petals of Plenty” folder … I was hoping to create enough dimension to look like the cute little blossoms on the designer paper.  And of course, I had to add a bit of bling!

000_0121

To jazz up the inside, I added a strip of the designer paper and used the Happy Birthday – also from the “Bring on the Cake” stamp set.  It just finishes off the card so nicely.

Here is a list of today’s ingredients.  Click on the item number if you wish to purchase anything you saw today.

Whooooo’s Birthday?

Hello stampin’ friends ~

Whoooooooo’s got a birthday?  Oh my gosh… I have had this cute owl punch for so long and I have not taken the time to play with it like I should have, so today I’m sharing with you, my latest creation.  He’s so cute; you’re going to fall in love with him.

101_1430

This card really is simple to make…

Begin with a designer series paper in a green tone (Suggestions: Subtles (130135) Color Collection Designer Series Paper Stacks / or GinghamGarden (129310) Designer Series Paper – either of these will work great)

You will also need:

I created the leaves out of scrap cardstock that coordinated with my paper, then folded it in half.  I then folded it again, creating the lines.

The paper snips works great to cut the grass … just don’t try that in your backyard!  (Bad joke… sorry!)

I find myself using this quite a bit.  It’s fun and cheerful and that is usually what we want to accomplish when we send someone a card.

Thanks so much for stopping by today.

Happy Birthday Brother …

Hello Stampers ~

I don’t know about you, but this month is just flying by for me!  Can you believe it is already the 18th of June!

On that note … I’d like to send a Happy Birthday out to my brother Richard today.  I created a “quick card” using the “My Digital Studio” software.  I will admit, that I have had it for a while, but have spent most of my time creating slide shows and scrapbooks with it.  For some reason, I just never got around to creating cards with it!

So today, my brother will get the first Birthday card that I created with my MDS program!

man_birthday-001

I must say, one of my favorite things about the “My Digital Studio” … is that nothing retires!  Once you purchase a download – it’s yours to use forever!  I just love the classic car which comes from  “Adventure Awaits” download.  I have a soft spot for the “vintage look”.

The inside greeting comes from “Fantabulous You“… I couldn’t resist!   There are so many different styles of downloadable goodies, including some of your favorite stamp sets!

man_birthday-003

I love using the MDS… it is fun and you can let your creativity run wild!  If you don’t like what you did, you can just delete it.  How cool is that!

And for those of you who are busy or have busy little hands around, when you’re interrupted… just hit the save button!  (No clean up required)  It’s a great time saving tool that can get you back to your card and scrapbook projects.

Give it a try … Stampin’ Up!  offers a 30-day FREE Trial.  Just click on the button below … It’s fun, it’s easy and you can always delete your mistakes! (tee hee)

CM554T

Let me know when you try it out, and feel free to share you projects with me.  You can e-mail them to me @ lindaluvs2stamp@aol.com (Maybe YOU could be my next “creative” guest!)

Have an awesome day!
