Practical Tips in Making Gift Boxes

Hello Stampin’ Friends,

With Christmas coming in quicker than some of us are ready for, today’s post is all about making Gift Boxes and some helpful tips. Although we’re talking Christmas these tips can help you make cute Gift Boxes all year long … so don’t put those Tricks and Treats die away because that is where the box die comes from.

Let’s take a look at the video and enjoy the ease of assembly and tips that I’ve shared, then we’ll take a look at each box a little closer..

Let’s begin with our simple box that we made using the One Horse Open Sleigh designer paper. Did you catch the TIP on using two sheets of designer paper with one die cut so the paper aligns when putting it together? Don’t you also love that you can stamp your greeting directly onto your designer paper ~ you may want to do it before you assemble because it would be much easier …lol. More tips in the first demo than I had planned / Oh my!! LOL

Our second Gift Box / Bag highlights the All About Autumn Designer paper and it’s foil sides … perfect for Christmas or any special occasion that you want to shine! We also used the Edgelit Die that is included in the die set. The greeting came from the Beary Cute Bundle and was die cut from the Nested Essentials Dies. TIP: Save that left over designer paper to create embellishments that coordinate with the packaging!

The last box was die cut with cardstock and highlighted with designer paper. TIP: (Designer) Paper Saving Technique. This comes in handy when you are making many boxes for co-worked, your kids classroom, or your team! The red check designer paper comes from the Joy of Christmas and the dies are from the Joy of Noel bundle. Don’t you just love that Adhesive Backed Silver paper!? Last TIP: Use the holes that you die cut, to mark and align the next cut … perfection!!

I hope you enjoyed watching me create these cute boxes and found the tips helpful to you. Are you inspired to make some cute Gift Boxes for your family, friends, co-workers, teachers, etc … the list goes on! Have fun creating your own boxes and for all holidays / celebrations.

Thank you for joining me today. Have an awesome day ~

Simply Sunday: Season of Cheer

Hello Stampin’ Friends,

Today I want to share a simple card that I created in just minutes … the One Horse Open Sleigh designer series paper has so many pretty patterns that the hardest part you’ll have making these cards is trying to pick out which pattern you want to use.

I chose the A-Frame log home with a simple black mat and then secured it to the Cherry Cobbler base. A simple greeting with a few Classic Mat Dots … popped up with our Stampin’ Dimensionals… simple. Pretty. Done.

Hope you enjoyed today’s Simple Season of Cheer card. Thank you for stopping by and enjoy your day.

Most Wonderful Time of Year …

Hello Stampin’ Friends ~

With the heat wave going on, I thought it would be nice to “chill” things out a bit and I’m doing so with some of the One Horse Open Sleigh and Irresistible Blooms On-Line Exclusive items. This card turned out stunning if I do say so myself!

I missed using the beautiful circle die image from the Irresistible Blooms and thought it would work perfect with the gorgeous One Horse Open Sleigh Designer paper… I chose the pattern with the A-Frame home so the die cut would frame the house.

I began with Basic White cardstock and die cut the circle out. Cut my designer paper so that it would “peek through” … I used dimensionals to pop up the white. The left over designer paper was “fussy” cut and glued to the front on my card.

I felt the white was too stark so I used Pool Party and my Blending Brush to soften the difference between the white and the designer paper and noticed how beautifully it enhanced the look of the card. When finished with the brushing, I mounted my card front onto a piece of Pecan Pie to pull the color of the house.

Next, I began the embellishing … first with the Adhesive Backed Snowflakes and then with the Iridescent Rhinestones. I places them on the little circle spots on the die cut.

The greeting I chose “was” from a set in the Clearance Rack but has since sold out … so chose what works best for you. It was stamped in Pool Party and when attached to the front, I attached then entire cardfront / mat onto my Basic White cardbase.

It reminds me of those old fashioned Christmas cards that we all loved, but updated with the beautiful die cut and embellishment.

Thanks for joining me today, and I hope my card took you back to the Most Wonderful Time of Year.

Sparkling Season … Find out how!

Hello Stampin’ Friends,

Today I’m going to the second card using the One Horse Open Sleigh designer paper… I even have another 3″ x 3″ piece left to make another. Yesterday I shared this pretty woodsy card that cold be used for any occasion, I did a birthday card.

I used the Smoky Slate again today but highlighted it with the Mossy Meadow cardstock and ink. Because I am making this a Christmas card, I wanted just a hint of a traditional color… and the Mossy Meadow plays nice against the gray and brown tones of the One Horse Open Sleigh designer paper.

Wondering how I got that sparkle background? It also adds some fun texture to the card … I used the Shimmery White Embossing Paste found on page 136 of your Annual Catalog. I used the long Palette Knife to drag it across my cardstock and create my background.

I popped up my 3″ x 3″ piece of the One Horse Open Sleigh designer paper after matting with with a 3-1/8″ x 3-1/8″ piece of Mossy Meadow. I stamped my greeting from the Horse & Sleigh stamp set. I ordered the bundle which includes the dies to save 10% because you’re going to want the dies too.

No fancy punches or dies used for my greeting, just a scrap piece of paper and a diagonal cut using my scissors. I scrap piece of the designer paper in Mossy meadow was tucked behind the greeting to tie into the cardbase and mat.

The photo above that is on an angle really highlights the change in your cardstock when you use the Embossing Paste. It creates a two-tone look and adds that shimmer … so with that, I added a snowflake from the Adhesive Backed Snowflake Assortment and 3 of the gray Classic Mat Dots.

Thank you for stopping in or coming back to see the second of these two cards … one more to go! And to think, I only used one sheet so far.

Have a great day.

Simply Sunday: Birthday Greetings

Hello Stampin’ Friends,

Today I’m going to share a warm and natural card I created for a birthday and I am using the One Horse Open Sleigh designer paper. This pretty woodsy pattern is just to beautiful not to use it for as many occasions as you can think of.

I used the grays for my base and background; Basic Gray and Smoky Slate so the brown tones in the designer paper would shine through. The Smoky Slate cardstock was stamped with a design you can find in the Gone Fishing stamp set … I think it makes the type of lines you may find on a White Birch tree.

On the Basic Gray mat, I embossed it with the “stripes” from the Stripes & Splatters 3-D embossing folder to give the card a wonderful texture and looked like bark to me.

I stamped the greeting in Basic Gray onto Smoky Slate and then die cut it using the Stylish Shapes Circle die. I used the Linen Thread to add a natural embellishment to the card, and then secured the greeting over the top using Stampin’ Dimensionals. This added some dimension to the card.

Also adding dimension and texture were the Classic Matte Dots in gray that I enhanced the greeting with.

I love the soft tones of the Once Horse Open Sleigh designer paper and how the added little touches to this card really tie it all together. And it is very gender neutral with these colors.

Thank you for taking time out of your Sunday to stop and visit with me. I will share a Christmas card with you tomorrow using this same pattern of designer paper. Till then, enjoy the rest of your day.

Quick & Easy Cards featuring the One Horse Open Sleigh Designer Paper

Hello Stampin’ Friends ~

Today I have three Quick & Easy Cards featuring the One Horse Open Sleigh Designer Paper. I will also be sharing the video replay of my Facebook LIVE last night. You’ll hear me talk about the “third” card in my video … can’t wait until you see it. Let’s begin with the video for those of you who did not catch the LIVE.

I also thought I would share the cards here as well so you can get a better look. The first card is super simple to make and I love this “looking down view” on this designer paper. This pack of designer paper is full of amazing patterns.

The second card is not hard to make and looks so cool when you have a landscape pattern like we have here. Remember, this is only half of the paper because each strip is 1″ wide. The Boho Blue and Misty Moonlight really pull the blue tones out of this paper … Wait till you see the what I did with the other 3 panels!!

Since I pulled the blue tones from the first of our designer paper panels, I decided to pull out the pinks and yellow on my next card.

The base is Basic Gray because I love how it looks with the Petal Pink. I also used it to mat my designer series paper panels. Just the the other card, my panels are cut 1″ x 5″ ….

The Petal Pink was cut at 4″ x 5-1/4″ and then the Lemon Lolly; 3-7/8″ x 5-1/8″ then was cut diagonally. I then attached the Lemon Lolly to the Petal Pink and ran it through my embossing machine using the Timeworn Type embossing folder.

The panels are now attached to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals. Do you see those leaves on the One Horse Open Sleigh designer paper? I decided to take this paper into autumn and cut out some leaves using the Around the Bend dies in Copper Clay. So pretty.

The Smoky Slate cardstock was stamped with Misty Moonlight with my greeting and then die cut with the Stylish Shapes dies. It was attached to the panels and then adorned with the Copper Clay leaves.

The designer paper may be called “One Horse Open Sleight” but you can use the gorgeous paper in so many ways …. just have fun!! I love the way both these cards turned out, great way to use one sheet of designer paper.

I hope you got a wave of inspiration with today’s cards, and I thank you for stopping by and hanging out with me for a bit.

Have a great day ~

Triple Time Technique: Season of Cheer Card

Hello Stampin’ Friends ~

Today I have a sweet card that invites you to take a walk into nature. I’m using the Triple Time Technique on today’s card with the One Horse Open Sleigh Designer Paper and the New Nested Essentials Dies. So simple to make but with a very dramatic effect.

Ready? Pick out your favorite pretty paper pattern and some fun dies. I used two dies for my card, you will also need a sheet of coordinating cardstock. I am using Early Espresso …. cut in half 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ then score at 4-1/4″ for you fold.

Next we will cut your 6″ x 6″ designer paper down to 4″ x 5-1/4″. Position your dies evenly onto your designer paper and run it through your die cutting machine.

Use your extra cardstock to “mat” your die cut designer paper …. I actually glues my die cuts directly out of the designer paper and fussy cut around it, but if your a bit more of a perfectionist, you could line it up in your paper cutter and trim it to your desired width. You can see that mine is not perfectly even but just as effective.

Attach the outer piece of designer paper directly to your cardfront, then you’ll align the largest of the two die cuts to the pattern of the paper … I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to attach it, then you’ll do the same with the smaller one.

To finish off the card I stamped the greeting directly onto the designer paper. Yes, I know that’s risky but the photopolymer stamps make it so much easier! I used the bronze snowflakes from the suite to complete it. Again, super simple to make yet it has such an impact!

Thanks for hangin’ out with me today. Enjoy your weekend, I’m entertaining two of my great grandchildren ❤ so much fun!

Sneak Peek at our Online Exclusives …

Hello Stampin’ Friends ~

Today I’m going to share two card with you that will give you a peek at the ONLINE Exclusives being released tomorrow the 6th of July. The online exclusives cannot be found in any publication … annual or mini catalog. This allows us to release new products any time of year, we’re not restricted to a catalog… How fun is that.

The two cards will be from two different bundles … I’m showcasing the One Horse Open Sleigh and the second card is from our Artisan Team member Charlet Mallett, she’s highlighting the Trucking Along stamp & punch bundle.

I can’t tell you a lot about this card but from the looks of it, she stamped the trucks to create a background and then punched one out as a focal point. The banner she used behind the truck comes from the All That Dies. The designer paper is Let’s Go Fishing. This is such a cute take on this bundle, it’s been the talk of the internet! Can’t wait to order one for myself on the 6th.

The second is mine, and I am using the One Horse Open Sleight Suite …. This was one of the sets that we as demonstrators could pre-order so I have just started playing with mine. Getting ready for my class but here is one of my first designs …

I knew I wanted to use the sleigh so I stamped it onto Basic White with the Memento Ink and then began coloring with the Cherry Cobbler, Pecan Pie, Night of Navy and Misty Moonlight Stampin’ Blends. After die cutting it, I used it to pick out what designer paper pattern I wanted to use. I cut it down to 3-7/8″ x 5-1/8″ matted it with Misty Moonlight at 4″ x 5-1/4″ and mounted it onto Early Espresso.

The die cut sleigh was glued at the bottom and popped up on the top half! I stamped the greeting in Misty Moonlight and die cut it, then added a bit of Bakers Twine to it before popping it up onto my card front. I added some of the adhesive backed snowflakes with an Iridescent Rhinestone on top to finish off the card.

The left over designer paper was added to the inside of the card. I also added a small strip of Misty Moonlight cardstock in there as well … just made the card look finished on the inside too. The designer paper in this suite is fabulous. The winter scenes are so pretty and the other side has great patterns you can use anytime throughout the year.

Don’t forget the Online Exclusives go LIVE tomorrow July 6th and you can take a look then on my website at http://www.lindaluvs.stampinup.net

I hope you enjoyed your holiday … and I thank you for stopping by today.
