Retiring Stamp Sets Card Share ….

Hello Stampin’ Friends,

Today I just wanted to share a couple cards from some of the stamp sets that will be retiring.  First is the “Delightful Dozen” stamp set … I used this a lot because of the many different greetings.  You will find it on page 27 of the main Stampin’ Up! catalog or you can view at the end of my post.  Also retiring is the “Birthday Basics” Designer Series Paper.

101_1722

Next I have for you the “Make a Cake” stamp set from page 17 of the catalog.  This fun birthday card also features the “Itty Bitty Banners” stamp set, however that one is not retiring 🙂

Make A Cake - May web

I also want to remind you that the 2013-14 Ronald McDonald House Charity Stamp Set: Tag It will also be retiring.   Stampin’ Up! gives $3 to the RMHC fund for each Tag It set sold.  You can find it on page 45.  I am going to miss this one!

                101_1399  101_1385

My last card share for today is on page 51 and it’s titled “Rev Up the Fun”.  I used this for my manly cards.  Any guy who rides or loves NASCAR would appreciate a card from this stamp set.  It’s fun!  The Designer Series Paper; “I Am Me” will also retire.

000_0066

I’m always sad to see my favorites leave the catalog, but I guess that’s the only way we can get new stamp sets and fabulous accessories!

I do urge you to purchase early if you have some “must have” items … some items are already sold out (like Gumball Green cardstock!)

Happy Easter to you and your family …

Hello Stampin’ Friends,

Today will be a quick post, but first I want to wish you all a very Happy Easter.

000_1003

You will recognize my little bunny from my scrapbook page that I posted on Thursday … “Some Bunnies Hidin’ the Eggs”.  I have always believed that you can just shrink down a scrapbook page that you like… into a card!

I followed the same pattern for my bunny … the oval framelit for the bunny butt, Boho Blossom for the tail, the 1-3/8″ for the head, the large oval punch for the bunny ears, and the Extra-large oval punch for the eggs.

The “Happy Easter” greeting comes from the “Delightful Dozen” stamp set.

I hope you have a wonderful day with your family.  Here is a quick pic of what I did last night with my granddaughter Shayla, in preparation for today’s gathering.

I Hate Goodbyes … but Love “Good Buys!”

Hello Stampin’ Friends,

I wanted to share this post from our Stampin’ Up! “Get Inspired” blog.  Jen has the cutest cards to share …

I Hate Goodbyes

The new annual catalog will be coming soon and that is exciting. But, inevitably, something I love gets retired each year to make room for new products and colors. I’m already sad knowing how much I’m going to miss a great collection of In Colors (US/CAN). (I’m still not over losing Poppy Parade.)

I thought I’d share a few quick projects that showcase my favorite colors that will soon be retiring.

So long, Summer Starfruit . . .

You’ll be missed, Midnight Muse . . .

Goodbye, Gumball Green . . .

What colors do you miss?

Jen C.
Concept Artist

Great things are coming … and it will come just in time to bring a smile to your face, even though some of our favorites will be on the retirement list.

Stampin’ Up! is giving FREE SHIPPING!  Get FREE shipping on everything (excluding expedited orders) April 21-25! The lists of retiring products will be available on April 21, so you can take advantage of free shipping by ordering all your favorites right away!

I will have the Retirement list available for you on the 21st!!  See you then.

Have a wonderful day ~

Fast on Friday’s is back …

Hello Stampin’ Friends,

How are you today?  Fine I hope, and ready to spend some fun time with the family.

Today I have a quick and easy card share for you.  I’m not sure if you can get much simpler than this, but I would still be proud to send it to any of my friends.

I began with the Crisp Cantaloupe cardstock and the Watercolor Wonder Designer Series Paper.

000_1008

Then I took the birthday greeting from the fabulous stamp set “Another Great Year”.  I just love the fonts used on this stamp set and the cute little accessory stamps are fun to work with.  And for those that know me well …. know that I used the black StazOn™ to stamp with.

To finish off the card I used the Crisp Cantaloupe Ruffled Stretch Ribbon … I told you I was going to get some when they put this on the Weekly Deals list!  I adhered it with the sticky strip because I didn’t want it to pull off.

000_1009

That’s it … we’re done!  Wasn’t that quick and easy!  And cute … you must admit it’s cute!  I think it’s the polka dots, they are just so fun.

Thank you for stopping by my blog today.

Have yourself a fabulous Friday ~

Some Bunnies Hidin’ the Eggs!

Hello my Stampin’ Friends,

Today I am going to share with you my 2014 version of the “Easter Egg Hunt” scrapbook page I shared a couple days ago.  I didn’t realize that some of those punches had retired… but I love the way this page turned out!  What I did realize is I’m really missin’ my scrapbooking group … I’m on a mission to get another club together for next year.  Let’s scrap ladies!!

I began my page with “Marina Mist” cardstock as my base.  Then I cut two 1-1/2″ x 12″ strips and created my finely mowed lawn with the new “Fringe Scissors”.  You can find it in the Celebrate the Everyday catalog.

000_0997

My eggs were punched out of our Silver Glimmer paper with the Extra Large Oval Punch.  Then I went a little crazy coloring the eggs.  I started out with the colors I used on my card a few days ago … the Old Olive, Rich Razzelberry, and the Tempting Turquoise.

000_0977

Oh but you must have many different colored eggs … so I grabbed the Melon Mambo and Marina Mist … they looked good too so I also tried the Crushed Curry and Tangerine Tango!  I did find that you can “spritz” the glimmer paper and sponge dauber your color on … it went fast!

000_0999

While my eggs were drying, I created my bunny.  I used the Oval Framelit for the bunny butt, and the Boho Blossom punch for his tail.  His head was created with the 1-3/8″ circle punch.  The ears (2) were punched with the Large Oval.

The bunny tail and ears were fluffed with the bone folder (just give the cardstock a bit of a curl).  It adds some additional dimension that works well with the layers of grass.

I did size him up … and he will fit onto a card front!  Wouldn’t that make the cutest Easter card!?

I created the little chick also from the extra large oval, cut out his beak from a piece of scrap, and created his eye by coloring a pearl with a Sharpie™.

000_0997

Hope you enjoyed my scrapbook page today and that it inspired you to do a bit of scrapbooking!

Have an awesome day!

Weekly Deals …

Hello my Stampin’ Friends,

It’s Tuesday and another new set of Weekly Deals!  We have some great one’s … my favorite is the “Adorning Accents Framelit Dies”.  They are fun and easy to use, and they coordinate with the “Adorning Accents Embossing Folder”.  Here’s what I did with this fabulous pair …

000_1004

You can see where the Adorning Accent framelit trimmed that beautiful edge, and then right above it … the folder highlights the cut by adding  a line of texture right above it.  I believe this is a card that I make with my Card Club in 2012… it’s timeless!

I think the Chevron ribbon would work well on guy cards, so I’ll be picking up a bolt of that myself.  It’s nice to be able to try new things … at a discount!

I’ll let “YOU” check out the rest of the weekly deals because there is something for everyone and for all ages.

I will also have a list of ingredients at the end of this post, that I used to create my card share today.

Make a Wish Come True …

Hello Stampin’ Friends,

For those of you who stopped by to visit me yesterday and came back to see my updated version of my Easter Egg Hunt … you’ll have to wait one more day (my dyed eggs are drying)!

In the meantime, I have a nice masculine card for you.  I began with the “Retro Fresh” Designer Series Paper.  I love how colorful this paper is, and works well with a “guy card”.

000_0989

Banners are hot … you see them every where, but I wanted to add a bit of dimension so I punched my Early Espresso banner with the “Chevron Border Punch.  I layered that over a “Cajan Craze” banner.

You can find the Chevron punch and the designer paper in the “Celebrate the Everyday” catalog.

I was looking for a nice birthday wish that looks a bit masculine, and thought the rough edges on the “wish” fit well.  You will find this stamp in the “Make a Wish” stamp set.  I used Early Espresso Ink on the Very Vanilla … then rounded off the two opposite corners with the “Corner Edge” punch.  I matted it with Early Espresso and punched the corners to match.

000_0991

Just a note; I did pop up the Espresso banner and the greeting.

Thanks for stopping by today … I’m off to see if my eggs are dry! 🙂

Have a fabulous week.

You will notice he’s just in time for the season!

100_3580

Star’s Swap Share ….

Hello Stampin’ Friends,

Today’s share are swap cards from the members of my Star’s by Design group.  I’m going to keep this post short and sweet, especially since I talked your ears off yesterday!

Guest Stamper and Star member: Debi

Debi created these cute little milk cartons for her club members and grandchildren … and now, to share with all of us.  You gotta love that cute little owl with happy wishes.  He was created using the “Owl Builder” punch!

000_0988

Guest Stamper and Star member: Doris

I just fell in love with this card!  Doris used the “Life in the Forest” and “Just Sayin'” stamp sets and the “Word Bubble Framelit Dies”.  The grass was created with the new “Fringe Scissors”.  All of these products can be found in the “Celebrate the Everyday” catalog.

000_0980

Guest Stamper and Star member: Brenda

Brenda’s card was created with punches and one of our Sale-a-bration stamp sets.  This card really can make you happy when skies are gray!  Brenda told us that her card was “cased” … totally OK.  We all case cards 🙂

000_0982

Guest Stamper and Star member: Eileen

Eileen’s pretty card is sure to brighten someone’s day.  She used the “Gingham Garden” designer series paper and paired it with the doilies.  The greeting comes from the “Wetlands” stamp set and the butterfly from the “Papillon Potpourri”.

Hope you enjoyed today’s swap shares from my Star’s group.

Have a wonderful day ~

Fabulous Friday … Glimmer Brads and so much more!

Hello my Stampin’ Friends!

How are you today!  I am simply fabulous … and totally excited to share this card and some fun stampin’ tips with you!  I know that I have been doing my “Fast -n-Furious” on Friday’s but the ideas for this card, just kept blooming ….

My idea was to show you a simple and pretty card showcasing the “Glimmer Brads” that are currently featured in our “Weekly Deals”.   Punch 3 flowers with the Petite flower punch and put a coordinating color brad into it.  That was my original idea.

Then I thought … oooh, wouldn’t it be pretty if I put some glimmer paper behind it?  Aaahh … then I thought, why don’t I dye the silver glimmer paper to match the cardstock and glimmer brads!  Hmmm … good idea!

Oh, but it didn’t stop there, I needed a ribbon!  I have 3 bolts of the silver ribbon from the “Celebrate the Everyday” catalog … so I’ll use that!  Hmmm… wonder if you can dye that too?  Answer … YES!  Yes, you can!

000_0975

So … what do you think?  Glitter lovers rejoice … all the shine without all the glitter mess.  I will take you step by step through the card and share how I created it.

You will need the Silver Glimmer paper and Silver Ribbon, along with the bottles of ink refills to coordinate with your cardstock, Sponge daubers and the Glimmer Brads.  If you do not want inky fingers … you may want so gloves too! LOL  (I’ll post ingredients at the end, as always)

To dye the Silver Glimmer paper, I dampened my sponge dauber with water … it really helps move the ink around.  It should be damp … not wet.  Put a few small drops of the ink onto the glimmer paper and begin to “daub” your paper.  You’ll be making the motion of a sewing machine … up and down with the dauber (You cannot slide the dauber across the glimmer paper) until the ink is spread evenly onto the paper.   You can always add more ink … either to your paper or to the dauber itself.

000_0977

Now that you have ink on your daubers, I gently brushed them on the ends of my punched flowers to create a bit more dimension.  I then used my bone folder to slightly curl up the edges of the flower.  I poked a hole in the center of my flower with my Paper Piercing tool and then inserted the coordinating glimmer brad.

To dye the silver ribbon … simply place your dauber over the ribbon, and pull the ribbon out from under the dauber.  The ink on the dauber will dye your ribbon.  Turn the ribbon over and repeat the process.  It looks best when dyed on both sides.

000_0975

Make sure you give the paper and the ribbon time to dry, otherwise you will get ink marks on your card base.  If you have the new Stampin’ Up! heat gun … you can use the low setting to help dry it.

I hope you are as excited as I am to play with these fabulous techniques.   I just can’t believe that I never thought of dying that silver ribbon before!!  You know me, I love to dye my ribbons.

Watch for more projects from me using these dying techniques!  Don’t be afraid to send me “your” creations (you can e-mail me a photo at:  lindaluvs2stamp@aol.com

Thank you so much for sharing your day with me!

Have a fabulous Friday!!

Got my stampin’ in the bag!

Hello Stampin’ Friends,

Today I thought I would share some of the fun we experience as demonstrators.  I know some you will find this very interesting, because I know you’ve been lovin’ the Convention and Stampin’ Up! bags that I always bring home with me for our events.  It’s very interesting … check this out!

Convention Bag Reveal: Behind the Scenes

We’ve been teasing you with hints about this year’s convention bag . . . and finally, the day has arrived!

To start off, I want to show you what goes on before we hand you your bag at an event.

It starts by taking an inventory of what types of bags we’ve had in the recent past: leadership bags, convention bags, Founder’s Circle bags, Grand Vacation bags—all of them. Then we take a look at what’s trending, what we think you’ll like, what we think you’ll use, and what we think will be most useful.

Soon we have a pile that looks something like this.

Which bag do you think we chose?

Let me tell you a little bit about the bag we chose and why it was chosen.  First off, I wanted the bag to be useful to you. I wanted you to carry it on a regular basis. PLUS, I wanted it to be different from any bag we’ve done before.

I believe we met all of those goals.

Here’s what I’ll tell you about this year’s bag.

  1. It’s not big. It won’t hold all of your Make & Take supplies. It won’t even hold your catalog.
  2. It WILL hold your e-tablet. Not only that—it will protect it and keep it safe.
  3. It’s a FANTASTIC color. (Red . . . Real Red.)
  4. It has great pockets for your phone, your lanyard, your business cards—perhaps even a swap or two.

Let me give you some advice: bring something else to put all of your swaps in, because this bag is what we farm girls might call “small and handy.” We would not call it “large and holds lots of stuff.”

What’s our process for creating an event bag? First, we start asking around.

Surveying.

Getting opinions.  (In case you wondered, Stampin’ Up! employees have a lot of opinions.)

Finally, after we settle on the style, we decide on color(s), which pockets we want where, whether we should have zippers or buttons, etc.

We work with the factory through the whole process.

We get fabric swatches to approve both color and texture.

We get samples of the quilted fabric so we can decide how big to make the pattern.

We look at pulls samples.

Do we want a snap or a clip?

We get pictures from the factory along the way, and finally we receive our first sample. (We had five sample bags for Inspire. Create. Share. 2009.)

We pick the bag apart and make a list of everything we want to change. Then we get a second sample.

We make another list, and wait for another sample.

FINALLY, we get a draft of what we want. We send it off to the vendor where THEY take it all apart and figure out how to make 8,000 of them.

We give the final “okay” only after we have seen a sample come through that is exactly the way we want it. Then, we wait for the pallets and pallets of bags to arrive in the warehouse.

Want another sneak peek? Did you notice the pen in the photo of the inside?

Not only is it a pen, it’s a stylus for your tablet!

The only way to get one of these delightful little bags is to come to convention. Registration is open for demonstrators AND guests. Classes are filling fast, so register now!

Not a demonstrator?  Guess what, if you sign up to become a demonstrator BEFORE registration fills, you can come to convention for FREE. Yes, FREE.

Yes, that means you can have this bag for FREE!

Just ask to sign up.  We’ll see you soon in Salt Lake City!
