Walk on the Wild Side …

Hello Stampin’ Friends,

Yahoo… It’s Thursday and the weekend is fast approaching!  I’m looking forward to getting more stamping done.

Much to do this weekend … my clubs start in September and I have to design their projects, and get their schedules out this weekend.  I will also be sending the announcement for our annual Fall Retreat this weekend!  It’s so much fun 🙂

Today I want to take a you back to nature with the “Walk on the Wild Side” stamp set.  I thought it was time to share another “Man Card”.  This is a nice stamp set, and I will be sure to share more projects using this set with you.

000_0109

I used the “Sweater Weather” Designer Series paper for our background.  I love using the plaids for masculine cards, but I think this one would work great on a boys birthday card as well.

Although one of the colors listed on this paper is “Chocolate Chip” … I chose to use the “Early Espresso” as my base color.  I thought it made all the colors on the paper “pop” more.

132184L

To give it the real “manly” look, I added a banner using the Burlap Ribbon … oh my gosh, I love this stuff!  You can use it for your cards, scrapbook pages and to tie bows on everything fall!

000_0111

Stampin’ Tips for today’s card:

1. Remember when coloring direct to rubber, don’t use the tip of the marker but the sides … it colors your image faster, and you won’t destroy your tips.

2. The Burlap Ribbon was adhered with the Mini Glue Dots… they work great.  You could also use the “sticky strip” but the glue dots were so easy to use.

Here is a list of supplies used for today’s card…

130357

Birthday Fishes (Wishes)…

Hello Stampin’ Friends,

Today I would like to share with you a card that we did at a past stamp camp.  Masculine cards are always a hit and much needed.

The stamp set I used is “By the Tide” (Wood – 131910 / Clear – 129120).  When I saw this stamp set in the Spring Catalog I knew I had to have it.   Imagine the possibilities … I think this stamp set is so versatile.

129120L

I will admit, it was the fish that attracted me to the “By the Tide” stamp set, as I used to fish with my grandpa, my dad, and even with my mom.  Fishing was always something I did as a kid (unfortunately, not much anymore).

You will be using the “power of the VersaMark” (102283) on this card… watermarks and heat embossing are two techniques used to create the depth of underwater life!

000_1375

We begin with our heat embossing … I inked up the first (what I call sea weed for this card) with VersaMark™ and the fish in Chocolate Chip – then use clear emboss powder and heat.

You will also ink the birthday greeting (From the stamp set “Blue Ribbon” (Wood – 131964 / Clear – 125981)) in Chocolate Chip and emboss.  The new formula ink pads work great for embossing!

Now that your embossing is done, you will stamp (with VersaMark) the remaining sea weed… this will create the illusion of the sea weed being “behind” the fish!  We also stamped it on the base of the card, just for fun!

Once you have completed your stamping… you can color in your fish and sponge the edges for just a bit more depth and color.

So…  I mentioned how versatile this stamp set is, and I think you can create any style of card with this set.  From manly to whimsical (I would use the seahorse for that) to anything in between.  Here is another sample …

000_1377

I love the clean and simple look of this card, and so totally different from the fish card.  The greeting comes from the stamp set “Sweet Essentials” (Wood – 132085 / Clear – 126457) found on page 41 of the catalog.

I believe both of these cards were done at the same stamp camp… to show the versatility of this stamp set.

Speaking of stamp camps … I have my “Christmas in July … Oops August” Stamp Camp on Monday the 26th.  There is still time to RSVP.  You will be making 10 fabulous Christmas Cards (with envelopes) that will showcase our Holiday Mini Catalog.  You won’t want to miss this … it’s a great way to get a “hands-on ” approach to your Christmas cards!

Remember… if you see a word or phrase highlighted, it will take you to that link when you click on it.  For example … the Christmas in July will take you to my calendar of events.

Thank you for stopping by today!  And a “Thank You” to Ann-Marie for her comment yesterday and many other posts … I will be sending you a package of our beautiful “Rhinestones” for being an active participant to my blog!

I have all sorts of surprises coming, both here on by blog and for my club and class members!

Have an awesome day!!

Get your motor running ….

Head out on the highway!

Happy Friday stampers … Hope you are all ready for an awesome weekend.

It is suppose to be a beautiful weekend here in Wisconsin … warm and sunny.  I’ll be in a meeting on Saturday and creating cards for my upcoming classes on Sunday, but I’ll have my windows open!  Sounds like a win – win for me.

For those of you heading out … I got the bike for you!  I could say this is a “MAN” card but I have some of my girl friends who ride too.  They don’t hop on the back of their husbands Harley – they ride their own.  So here’s to all my friends who ride… just be careful!

000_0061

Notice that the stamping is not straight … that was actually planned (lol).  I just hope you don’t mind that my bike can drive over oceans!  The fun Designer Series paper I’m using is from “I Am Me” (130138) found on page 151 of the big catalog.  That is actually some very versatile paper… great for scrapbooks if your traveling, I love the diagonal lines, and who doesn’t love polka dots!  Check it out.

The stamp set I used is “Rev Up the Fun!” (Wood – 130520 / Clear – 130523) and is found on page 51 of the big catalog.  It is so cute and fun to use.   Great car for the race fan in your family, or gear head (do they still call them that?)  You know … guys who love cars!

130523L

If you haven’t noticed the glare … that is coming from the “Foil Sheets” (132178 – Silver / 132622 – Gold) found on page 28 of the Holiday Catalog.  I wanted to replicate “chrome” and I love the way it turned out.  So, just because you find something in the Holiday catalog … doesn’t mean you have to use it for just your holiday stamping.  You want to find as many uses for your stampin’ supplies as possible, so I’m happy to share this tip.

000_0066

So I hope you enjoyed the ride today!  Be safe.

Have a fabulous weekend.

Guest Stamper … Eileen S.

Hello Stampin’ Friends,

Today I’m going to share another card from my downline meeting on Saturday.  I didn’t post this with the Halloween themed cards is because it just didn’t quite fit in …

It’s a wonderful “man” card from the stamp set “Wetlands” (Wood – 126695 / Clear – 126697) found on page 69 of the big catalog.

000_0052

The card was made by my sister and downline member, Eileen.  I think her color choice suits a masculine card well… Night of Navy and Soft Suede.  Love the look!

To add dimension, Eileen used the “Window Frames Collection” framelits (129021).  You can find those on page 186 of the big catalog.  Do you have a catalog?  If not, let me know and if you are one of my customers I would love to get that to you right away.

You get added dimension by stamping the color on color like Eileen did with the wheat background.

Eileen added a fun design element by “Paper Piercing”.  It is an age old technique made easy with the coordinating “Paper Piercing Pack – Festive” (127857 / page 179).  Don’t you think that it adds that special touch to the card, and yet keeps it “masculine”.  Who doesn’t need man cards!

Would you like to be a “Guest Stamper”?  I would love to share your work … just please use Stampin’ Up! supplies.  Contact me for the address.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Magnificent Maple Thank you …

Hello Stampin’ Friends ~

I am super excited to share with you my first creation form the new Holiday catalog!  Did you get yours?  If not, contact me by e-mail (lindaluvs2stamp@aol.com) and I will be sure to get you one.

How do you like the new layout?  I love that Stampin’ Up! put so many samples in there for us!!  It’s a bit of a teaser, showing us all those samples, and then the stamp sets.  How fun is that!

Today I will be using the “Magnificent Maple” (131868 – wood only) stamp found on page 18 of the Holiday catalog.  It’s part of a bundle that I received for free.  Stampin’ Up! has different ways their demonstrators can earn free product, to help keep our cost of doing business down.  I love that!  If you’ve ever thought of doing what I do, let’s talk.  Now when you become a member of my team, you have a choice of a free bundle for yourself.  CLICK HERE FOR DETAILS

Now onto the card … I began with the beautiful “Sweater Weather” (132184) Designer Series paper.  This made my color choices easy.  If you look on the back of the package of your Designer Series paper … Stampin’ Up! has put a list of the colors!  So, from the colors listed, I chose Crushed Curry, Chocolate Chip, Tangerine Tango.

100_1733

I wanted to stay true to the colors on the paper pack and that is why I chose the Whisper White to stamp on.  I toned it down a bit and created some dimension by gently sponging the edges in Tangerine Tango.

For added texture and to get that fall feeling, I used the new “Burlap Ribbon” (132140).  It also highlights the the leaf and sets it off the page.  I think I’m going to be using this unique ribbon quite a bit.  Works great for masculine cards too!

To create the multi-colored leaf … I inked up the stamp with Crushed Curry, then with sponge daubers, I added the Tangerine Tango and then Rich Razzleberry to the very tips.

100_1727     100_1730

To decorate the inside, I just used the scrap piece of designer paper from cutting the front piece, then “huffed” on the stamp to re-stamp the inside.  We stampers let nothing to waste… not even a little ink on a stamp! lol

To finish off the card, I stamped the greeting in Chocolate Chip.  The “Thank You” comes from the stamp set “Perfectly Penned” ( 128703 – Wood / 122892 – Clear).  This stamp set is one of my “go to” sets, I love the font and find it goes with many different styles of cards.

100_1733

I hope you enjoyed a look into the new catalog.  I have so much more to show you, so be sure to stop by… or better yet, join us for one of my fun stamping events!

New Stamp Set Parade … Day 4

Hello Stampers ~

It’s finally Friday … and my last day at Frabill.  For those of you who have not heard yet, the company was sold and moved to Illinois.  I chose to build my Stampin’ Up! business.

Today is our fourth installment of our new card parade, and it has a bit of a twist!  A fun and easy technique for you too … White Washing!

Begin with the “Natural Composition Specialty” paper and the Craft White Ink Pad … and a sponge or sponge dauber.  Ink up the sponge with the white craft ink and rub it all over the “Naturals Composition” paper.  Let set for a bit, then with a paper towel, whip the excess ink off the pre-embossed paper… it really makes the pattern on the paper “pop”.

On that note … our card today has a “masculine” look!

Today’s featured stamp set is: CHALK TALK

101_1336

It’s this technique cool?!  It’s quick and easy, and a bit “manly”.  I saw them doing this technique to antiqued furniture on all those home design shows.  I also saw them do this to update the look of a fireplace!

I thought the “White Wash” technique would go good with a stamp set called “Chalk Talk!”  I also wanted to give it a different flare by using a softer color .  I “aged” the tag a bit by sponging the edges and crumpling (is that a word?) up the cardstock.

I finished the card off by adding the additional hearts … because when your thanking your man, you want to add a little heart

Happy Birthday Brother …

Hello Stampers ~

I don’t know about you, but this month is just flying by for me!  Can you believe it is already the 18th of June!

On that note … I’d like to send a Happy Birthday out to my brother Richard today.  I created a “quick card” using the “My Digital Studio” software.  I will admit, that I have had it for a while, but have spent most of my time creating slide shows and scrapbooks with it.  For some reason, I just never got around to creating cards with it!

So today, my brother will get the first Birthday card that I created with my MDS program!

man_birthday-001

I must say, one of my favorite things about the “My Digital Studio” … is that nothing retires!  Once you purchase a download – it’s yours to use forever!  I just love the classic car which comes from  “Adventure Awaits” download.  I have a soft spot for the “vintage look”.

The inside greeting comes from “Fantabulous You“… I couldn’t resist!   There are so many different styles of downloadable goodies, including some of your favorite stamp sets!

man_birthday-003

I love using the MDS… it is fun and you can let your creativity run wild!  If you don’t like what you did, you can just delete it.  How cool is that!

And for those of you who are busy or have busy little hands around, when you’re interrupted… just hit the save button!  (No clean up required)  It’s a great time saving tool that can get you back to your card and scrapbook projects.

Give it a try … Stampin’ Up!  offers a 30-day FREE Trial.  Just click on the button below … It’s fun, it’s easy and you can always delete your mistakes! (tee hee)

Let me know when you try it out, and feel free to share you projects with me.  You can e-mail them to me @ lindaluvs2stamp@aol.com (Maybe YOU could be my next “creative” guest!)

Have an awesome day!

Dream … The Open Sea

Hello Stampers!

Just a quick post today … I know your busy!

I wanted to share a card (I cased from a fellow demonstrator) that we did at one of my all day stampin’ events.  It’s a great “MAN” card and we used the “Triple Time” Technique.  It’s just perfect for the “Open Sea” stamp set (page 101)

Dream - june 15 13

The colors just make this card!  We used Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla, and “my new black” …. Early Espresso!

I also want to show you a close up of the beautiful “Antique Brads”  (117273) – they go with so many styles of stamping.  This little one worked perfect for our nautical theme.

bradHave an awesome Saturday!

SIMPLY SKETCHED …

Welcome stampin’ friends!

I am stoked about sharing my card with you today!  WHY… you say?

Because it is one of my favorite new Hostess stamp sets …

“Simply Sketched”

This stamp set is a beautifully designed “sketch” style that just calls your name.  Oh, and the greetings are so pretty!  The card below is the “Make & Take” that I designed from my 2013 Spring Demonstrator Retreat!  We used aqua painters to do the “Watercolor” technique on the flower.

101_1237a

The base is “Crumb Cake” cardstock.  The pretty green “Pear Pizzazz” paper comes from the “Gingham Garden” Designer Series Paper pack.  The “pop” of color is the NEW “Strawberry Slush” from the 2013-15 In-Colors.

I used the 2-1/2 inch circle punch (120906) on the flower and the “Window Frames Collection” Framelits (129021) for the mat.  The pretty button came from the new “Very Vintage Designer Buttons” (129327).

101_1237b

OK… I can’t help it.  I must share my swap card with you too!  The Island Indigo color makes the card “pop” and was chosen to coordinate with the “Soho Subway” Designer Series Paper.  And don’t you just love that little bird!?

101_1239b

Let me just say … “the picture in the catalog does not do this paper justice”.  I simply fell in love with the Soho Subway Designer Series Paper (130140), it’s great for scrapbooking… and any type of card!

And FYI … the “Sympathy” is included in the Simply Sketched stamp set.  Just click on the “Shop Now” button to purchase any of the items you saw here today.

blog insert - shop nowA little reminder that the “Simply Sketched” is an exclusive Hostess set, which you can get FREE when you host a stampin’ party, join one of my clubs, or place an order of $150 (order with a friend or two!)

Have an awesome week!

So Kind of You …

Hello Stampers ~

Today I am sharing a simply beautiful card created with the “By the Tide” stamp set from the Spring Catalog.

shell card

I am excited to say that this versatile stamp set will carry over into the NEW 2013-14 Idea Book and Catalog!

I love to layer white on white, it sets up the card with a great foundation.  Don’t forget to give the first layer of white a “lift” by using stampin’ dimensionals… they are definitely a necessity in any stampin’ kit!

The combination of a simple greeting “so kind of you” from the “Sweet Essentials” stamp set with the single shell from the “By the Tide” stamp set created this beautiful card.

close-up

The addition of texture to the card using the “Houndstooth Folder” really sets off the accent of the Midnight Muse 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon.  As you can see, I only partially embossed the card to create a more dramatic effect.

Every now and then we all look for an easy to make, yet beautiful card.  I hope this fulfilled that need for you.

If you enjoyed this card, please leave a comment.  I’d love to hear from you!

Happy Stampin’

Linda

GREAT CATCH …

Today’s post is great “Man Card”… done by guest stamper and my upline Vicki Towell.

100_6125

When I saw this fish in the “By the Tide” stamp set in the Spring Catalog, I just had to have it.  I knew the fish would make great man cards, not to mention the rest of the set which would create an awesome scrapbook page.

By the Tide

The background is stamped with VersaMark™ onto Crumb Cake cardstock.  The fish “popped” up with the Stampin’ Dimensionals are stamped in Chocolate Chip (with coordination cardstock used as card back).  Just a touch from the White Gel Pen is what brought the eyes to life.  Don’t forget to brush on some “Crystal Effects” onto the shell!

fish close-up

You’ll find the greetings from the “One in a Million” stamp set in the 2012-13 Idea Book & Catalog on page 135.

Back to the Spring Catalog for the beautiful embellishments added to the card … Basic Designer Buttons and Natural Trim Ribbon both found on page 20.

If you enjoyed today’s post, please feel free to leave a comment.

Happy Stampin’
