Throwback Thursday: Butterflies!

Hello Stampin’ Friends ~

Today I thought it would be fun to share some cards that I have created for my blog or my stamp clubs from the past. Today we are going back to 2013, and the products that we’ll focus on are still in our annual catalog!

Let’s take a look at butterflies …

Swallowtail 4-29

The first is a card we did in my Stampin’ Technique Classes: Emerging Color Technique

  1. We sponged color – in this case, green in the center and turquoise on the rest … let dry.
  2. We then inked up the butterfly image with VersaMark and then embossed with clear embossing powder
  3. Final step of the technique is to brayer black over the entire card front & wipe off excess ink.

The beautiful colors underneath the embossed area now emerges! We then used the butterfly punches (also still available) to accent our card.

The second card is quick -n- easy and really cute!

Our background was created with the “Honeycomb” folder (still available) … the only thing you need to swap out is the designer paper! And that’s not hard because we have so many fabulous designs.

My last card share for our Throwback Thursday is ….

This card also has the “honeycomb” embossing folder and the Bitty Butterfly punch is used. The stamp set is no longer available but my suggestion would be the “Serene Silhouettes” or the “World of Dreams” stamp set… either one could be used in replacing the stamp set on this card.

As you can see, some items are timeless. You can easily create these cards again, and again.  Hope I inspired you to create with your butterfly punches … spring is in the air!

Just a quick reminder …

With less than 1 week left of Sale-a-bration … I thought I would share one of my favorites with you.

Product of the Week

Perfect Pairings Stamp Set

You will see the beautiful English Garden Designer Series Paper that can be found in the Annual Catalog and teamed it with the Rose Garden Thinlits Die on page 18 of the Occasions catalog.

The focal point of the card is the greeting ….

Perfect Pairings Stamp Set
This stamp set is more than meets the eye—it’s nine pieces, but you can mix and match the greetings for endless possibilities!
Here’s what one of our concept artists said about it:
“This is the perfect set for a beginning stamper because it has a variety of greetings all in one. The greetings can stand alone or be combined in countless ways. Yes, this is a greeting set but the fonts are bold enough to stand alone so you don’t necessarily need an image set to go with it.”

Thanks so much for dropping in …

Have a Good Friday ~

Simply Sunday: Do What Makes You Happy!

Hello Stampin’ Friends ~

Today I have my Simply Sunday card share for you … Are you looking for a fun, unique and quick way to make cards? Then let me re-introduce you to the “Project Life Specialty Card Collection”. On my March 9th post (Click Here to View) I shared a video that shows you the entire card collection!

Yesterday I shared a card that used one of the “resist” cards that was included in the kit, today I wanted to share one of the pretty printed acetate cards.

I find this kit so fun to work with … and it’s FREE during Sale-a-bration!!  I’ll be sure to share a scrapbook page with you in the near future.

For today’s card I chose my card from the “Project Life Specialty Card Collection”first and designed around it. Knowing that the polka dots on my acetate was “Watermelon Wonder” … I chose it for my base and white to highlight.

The Whisper White is the base under my acetate and was stamped with the beautiful greeting “do more of what makes you happy” from the “Hello Life” stamp set. I attached my acetate by placing the Glue Dots underneath my polka dots.

Next I popped up the entire card front with my Stampin’ Dimensionals and attached it to my Watermelon Wonder base.

I wanted to draw your eye directly to the verse so I surrounded it with cute little flowers.  My flowers are made from the Petite Petals punch and the flower from the Itty Bitty Accents punch pack.

I curled the edges of the Watermelon flower (Petite Petals Punch) down and pulled the petals of the Basic Black flower (Itty Bitty Punch Pack) upwards. They look great together, however I wanted just a touch of bling, so a Rhinestone in the center it is!

Don’t forget the Rhinestones are currently on the Weekly Deals … You can save $1.25 a pack!! That is a great deal for a product I would probably spend more on!!

Don’t be afraid to use any of our Project Life card collections for cardmaking!! Or just try one of the already pre-cut card kits! Either way you’ll be sure to make quick -n- cute cards in no time at all.

Thanks so much for sharing a bit of your Sunday with me!

Have an awesome day!

Today’s Stampin’ Supply List …

Friends & Memories …

Hello Stampin’ Friends ~

How are you this fine day? I’m hoping for that 64° weather they promised us … and sunshine, lot’s of sunshine!

We always talk about how versatile and how well our stamp sets and accessories coordinate, well today I’d like to share a card that I created with a unique combination.

I began with the “In This Together” stamp set which you can find in our main catalog. I like to two friends standing together under the umbrella.  I wanted blue tones for my color pallet and picked the Bermuda Bay and Tempting Turquoise colors from the Bold Collection.

It was the umbrella that reminded me of a card in the “Memories in the Making” Project Life Specialty card collection … It’s a FREE Sale-a-bration item! It has “resist” raindrops!

Now … I’ll be totally honest / I left a nice turquoise finger print on my card piece and did not want to start all over so I improvised! I looked through my stamp sets until I found a verse that I thought fit with my card, and yep, I told you our stamps coordinate in unexpected ways … The verse is from “Sprinkles of Life” … amazing! I love the way the theme for this entire card fit together.

One more thing … I used the “Crystal Effects” on the umbrella and boots on my card, which coordinates with the “Memories in the Making” Project Life Specialty card resist …  the shine carries all the way through the card.

I’m not sure Stampin’ Up! even knows these three items would coordinate so well. My thought for you … experiment with combining different stamp sets and accessories, you’ll never know what you will come up with!

Thank you for sharing part of your day with me!

I’ll be back tomorrow with another Simply Sunday project.

Have a good day ~

So today I’m sharing the “Hooray” card to celebrate Andrea’s successful surgery.

We all wish her a speedy recovery … she’s not used to laying around, but I told her it was time she got to be the “princess”… lol

Time to Celebrate!

Hello Stampin’ Friends ~

It’s time to celebrate birthdays!! Today I’m going to share a FUN card created with the “Party with Cake” and “Party Pop-Up” bundle. It is really easy to use and I have some great tips to add a pop of color without a mess.

My club members did cards similar to this one, and I’m hosting a class on February 25th to showcase all the things you can do with this fun, fun bundle. You’ll find full details in my events page.

First let me show you the card ….

Start with the “It’s My Party” Designer Series Paper … you can make endless cards with this paper stack, combine that with the “It’s My Party” cardstock pack and your ready to go!!

For our greeting … I omitted the “with cake” by putting a post-it note over it before inking up the stamp, then we pulled it off so only the words we wanted were inked.

Next, I took my “Perfectly Artistic” Designer Paper (ends Monday) from our Sale-a-bration catalog to make our balloons. I love our balloon punch with 2 sizes of balloon. (Also bundles with the Balloon Celebration Stamp Set) We tied a knot in our White Bakers Twine and attached it to the balloon with a “rolled up” glue dot!

Ahhhh … Let’s get to the inside and make this card REALLY POP!

How fun is this! And it’s really simple to do.  Fold your cardstock in half and use the crease to align your die – there are tabs on the die that you align with the crease.  I used the “Precision Base Plate” to use with my dies … then used the “Big Shot Die Brush” which helps the paper release from the dies.  I LOVE IT!!!

Here’s a great tip for coloring your die cut …

Slide a post-it note behind your cut out and one over it …

This simple technique allows you to color your pop up dies without getting ink all over everything else!

Your birthday person who receives this card will love the surprise inside! This is just one of the two dies in this bundle. I have listed the items needed to make this card, click on any of the items to get the details .

Thank you for checking out my blog today, hope you enjoyed the card and the stampin’ tips! I’d love to hear what you think … feel free to post your comments below.

Have a Fabulous Friday!
