Countdown to Christmas …

Hello Stampin’ Friends,

I hope you all had a wonderful day with friends and / or family.

I spent the morning (and evening before) preparing for the feast!  I do love to cook though so it was very enjoyable.

I was happy 2 of my 3 daughters and their families were able to come over and spend the day together.  Two of the little girls got to help (and learn) how to make a Cherry Cheesecake Pie.  It was a good day… and it turned into a huge slumber party, watching movies and just hanging out together!

My oldest daughter  called and we all wished each other a “Happy Thanksgiving”.  I am truly blessed.

Today I want to share a cute project idea that was posted by one of Stampin’ Up!s Demonstrator Training trainers: Donna G.

Got someone in your house who just can’t wait for Christmas? Help them count down the days by making this fun project.

I loved the look of the tags on page 13 of the holiday catalog (US/CA), so I made my tags exactly the same way.

For the containers, I used the Season of Style Designer Series Paper Stack. So easy—no cutting necessary!

To make the containers, apply the adhesive like this. (I recommend using Sticky Strip.)

Roll the container into a tube, then pinch one end closed. Add candy (or whatever you want to put inside), then pinch the other end closed in the opposite direction.

Attach the tag using a stapler, then adhere the button using a Glue Dot to hide the staple.

Twelve containers will fit nicely inside the Extra-Large Gift Box. To make the box look a little more festive, I wrapped Season of Style Designer Washi Tape around it.

Do you have a special way you’ll be counting down the days to Christmas?

Frome: Donna G.

Have an awesome day!

White Christmas …

Hello my Stampin’ Friends,

OK … it is officially winter here!  Snow, slippery roads, and cold … I’m ready for spring!  However, I do love Thanksgiving and Christmas so I’ll hold out for those.

My card share today is a beautiful card that we made at our Holiday Retreat this year.   I think it’s my favorite of all the cards and projects we did (I love the look and the bling).

000_0409

As you can see there are many layers here, but all done in Whisper White, which gives it that special look.  We used the “Beautifully Baroque” embossing folder to create some texture.

The “silver” embossed snowflake comes from the “Festive Flurry” stamp set found in the Holiday Catalog and can also be purchased in a bundle with the coordinating framelits.  The snowflake was centered on the stunning “Silver Glimmer” Paper which in now on sale!  Click on any of the highlighted items to see what is included in that stamp set.

Our greeting “Christmas Cheer” comes from the stamp set “Sweet Essentials” found on page 41 of our catalog.  I decides to create a banner for the greeting so it would stand out more.

000_0410

Quite simple and very elegant with some holiday bling, you can see why I love this card.  Hope you enjoyed it as well.

Thanks for stopping by and stay warm.

Wishing you Joy …

Hello Stampin’ Friends,

I hope you had a wonderful weekend.  I’m sure many of you are busy getting ready for your Thanksgiving celebration, and upcoming holiday season.

Today I would like to share with you a card you can create so simply with the “Oval Collections Framelits”.

They were a must have on my list because I think they compliment your scrapbooking so well.  Funny thing is … I use them on my cards so much more!

000_0401

I sized the first oval based on the greeting, then used it to cut out the Winter Frost Designer Paper.  The greeting was then stamped with Island Indigo directly onto the card base.

The Island Indigo ring around the greeting is actually a piece that was double cut … the first piece was used as a mat for another card.

To complete that card I added the beautiful “Frosted Finishes” Embellishment.  It coordinates so nice with the design on this paper and adds that bit of “bling” you like for the holidays.

All Dressed Up …

Hi Stampin’ Friends,

Hope you are enjoying the weekend.  A bit cold here, but the sun is shining and that is good.

I took the day off yesterday to get some well needed house cleaning done … it was a good day!  I found 2 gift certificates and $10.  I think that will work well for Christmas shopping and a treat for myself.

Today I wanted to share with you some projects that I had done with my clubs and on retreat.  First I’ll start with the card …

102_0967

I cased this card and feel it is the perfect card for a Sweet 16, special birthday or your BFF.  I used the “Dress Up” Framelit Die and “Fabulous Phrases” stamp set.  What I love about Fabulous Phrases is … you can create your own greeting by lining them up on your clear block.

I will admit, I had some help with the “Clear Mount Perfectly Placed Guides” … these are clear guides you can stick onto your clear blocks to help you line up your images.  Click on the link to see what they look like.

I used the “tulle” from last year’s Holiday Catalog … but you can use anything you have around the house or pick up at the fabric store.

Next, I took the card idea and turned it into a scrapbook page for my scrapbook club members.  I loved that little dress so much I couldn’t help but share this idea.  As you can see I used the “Flowering Flourishes” stamp set on both the card and the scrapbook page.  It adds a touch of beauty and fills up some of that blank space.

102_0965

We used the “Polka Dot Parade” for the dresses and banners, and on the next project.  I chose the Bold Brights collection, I love that you have so many color choices in these packages.  It allowed my club members to choose the colors that suited their page.

I created a “mirror” by using the “Apothecary Accents” Framelit Dies.  At the time I created this, we did not have the “Silver Foil” that you can now find in the Holiday Catalog … that would really make it look like a mirror (how cute!!).

Last but definitely not least, I’m sharing a quick and easy 3-D project that we made at our Spring Retreat.  I saw this done before but with too many steps involved, so my version is super simple.

101_1076

All you need to do is fold your Designer Series paper in half.  Now, when placing your die… bring the shoulders of the dress above the fold (this will prevent it from cutting) and will give you that “tent” effect.  Now just simple use glue dots to attach the dress to the candy.

If you are making these for a birthday party or bridal shower … you want quick and simple!  Your guests are going to love them.

I think I may have to try a “Holiday” theme, maybe with a bit of red and white!

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Enjoy your day.

Santa’s just around the corner ….

Hello Stampin’ Friends,

I cannot believe how fast this year has gone!  As I recall … I was wishing it was spring (what happened!).  Now we are all in preparations for Thanksgiving!

Today, I wanted to share with you a cute “gift giving” idea.

Gift Cert - Blog

This cute Santa gift certificate or card holder is so easy to make.  You can either do it as a regular style card or as a tri-fold.

You are actually seeing 2 cards here.  The first card is the front and the second card was opened so you could see inside.  The other side is blank white so they can write or stamp a message.

To create the pocket … just cut diagonally on a 4 x 5-1/4″ then secure 3 sides (top open) with sticky strip.

If you do not have the time to make one, but would love to send your stampin’ friend a gift certificate, let me know … Just purchase a Gift Certificate through me, and I will make and send out this special card for you (or I’ll send it to you so you can add your own sentiments).

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Holiday Gift Tags …

Hello Stampin’ Friends,

Do you know what day it is?  Do you know what day it is? It’s Tuesday!   lol

As promised, I was going to show you what else you could do with the “Thankful Tablescape Simply Created Kit”.  The other day I posted my “pheasant card” with the background paper that looks like birch … today I’m going to show you a cute project that my stampin’ guests made at our Holiday Retreat.

000_0391

I began with the gift box… the “Decorative Window Gift Box” that is, found on page 36 of the Holiday catalog.  Then we jazzed it up with a bow created from the “Gift Bow Bigz Die” on page 37.  (My guests also got their room tags and an angel that was created with the Bow die!)

Next we created these 4 simple gift tags.  As you can see, I designed the tags with the “birch paper” and the “Warmth & Wonder” Hostess Stamp Set.  What a cute gift this would be for a co-worker or secret Santa!

000_0392

Don’t fret … you can easily get the “Warmth & Wonder” hostess set by inviting over a few friends (we’ll make a couple cards)… or you could do an on-line party with your friends or just order your supplies for your Christmas cards.  Any way you go, with a minimum of $150 you could get this cute stamp set and more – FREE!

I still have a few more projects / cards that I would like to share with you, showcasing the “Thankful Tablescape Simply Created Kit”, so be sure to check back in.

Thanks for stopping by …. and let me know if you are interested in hosting a holiday stampin’ party!

Have a great Tuesday!

Hope is beautiful …

Hello Stampin’ Friends,

I hope you had a wonderful weekend.  Mine was good … I had one of my Technique Club groups this Saturday morning.  I was asked if I had the stamp set “Blooming with Kindness”, my response was … “why yes I do”.  So today’s card share is a card that I created using this beautiful stamp set.

000_1383

The card itself is quite simple to create.  I began by inking up the flower image with VersaMark™ and then heat embossing with “Clear” Embossing powder.  Once embossed, I inked up a sponge dauber with Pink Pirouette ink and applied it over the clear embossed flower.  The flower appears magically, and gives the card a soft glow.

I paired up the Pink Pirouette with Early Espresso … the stark contrast of colors blend so beautifully together.  I didn’t want to stamp on the Espresso but I thought that it still needed something.  That something was texture … so I used the Delicate Designs Embossing Folder and ran the lace scallop down the side.

The word “Hope” is part of the “Blooming with Kindness” stamp set, and is part of the reason I bought it.  I love the greetings and the font… so pretty.  I used the Large Oval punch for the greeting and the Scallop Oval to mat our greeting.

000_1383

This card was a Make -n- Take from one of my Star’s Meeting, I was showcasing embossing techniques.  This is a form of the “Emboss Resist” technique.

Sandy my friend… so this is the card I created with the stamp set, I hope you and the rest of my readers enjoyed it.

Thank you so much for stopping by.  Have a great week!

Happy Birthday Man!

Hello Stampin’ Friends,

Hope you are having a nice weekend.  A bit rainy here in Wisconsin but at least it’s not snow … I am not ready for that!

Today I want to share with you a simple birthday card for a man.  “Man” cards are some of my most requested.

This card was actually inspired by the “paper” … I am using a birch looking paper that came out of the Holiday catalog.  You can find it on page 18 in the “Thankful Tablescape Simply Created Kit”.  Keep checking in on my blog, because I plan on showing you more cards and projects that you can create using this kit!

000_0389

Stampin’ Tip: We discovered that it is best to use “Sticky Strip” when adhering your “birch paper” … because it comes on a roll, it wants to hold that curl, and pulls off the cardstock, when using a regular adhesive.

Next, I chose the pheasant from “Walk in the Wild” because I haven’t used him yet, and I thought he looked nice with the paper.  I also wanted to use the “Squares Collection” Framelits because I haven’t used them either!  I hope I can inspire you to pull out one of those items you haven’t used yet and start creating… it’s fun!

Once I had my pheasant stamped and cut out … I didn’t have the heart to cover up all the cool looking birch paper, so I used the next size up square framelit, and cut the piece out of the birch paper!  Now I can use that piece in one of my upcoming cards!  It also gave the card a “faux mat” look.  I attached the pheasant into the square and now it appears as if it’s matted!

My “Happy Birthday” greeting comes from the “Itty Bitty Banners” stamp set found on page 30 of the big catalog.  It coordinates with the “Bitty Banner” Framelits so you don’t have to cut out your banners by hand!  Oh, I love that!  I curled my ends and popped it up with the Stampin’ dimensionals.

000_0387

If the texture of the Birch paper isn’t enough for you, you can add the ribbon banners like I did to add a bit more texture and dimension to the card.  I began with the “7/16 Natural Trim – pg. 173 and then pulled in a bit more color by adding the 1/4” Early Espresso Stitched Grosgrain.

Hope you enjoyed today’s card share … Thanks for stopping by!

Have a wonderful Sunday!

Window to the World …

Hello Stampin’ Friends,

How are you this fine Friday?  It’s warming up a bit and the sun is shining today, and you are ready this blog … so it’s a good day!  I’m glad you are here.

Today I want to share a card that I had made in one of my technique classes last year.  I don’t usually post items that were done in my clubs or classes … but, I’m having technical difficulties with my camera.  And – this is a really cool card!

There are actually 2 techniques used on this card, reverse spotlighting and stamping on window sheets ….

000_1244

Don’t you just love it!  We began by creating a “mask” with the 2-1/2″ circle punch.  Once we had our mask, I chose to use the colors of a sunrise, something soft yet would pull your eye directly into the card.  Before pulling off the mask, we stamped the birds with “Basic Grey”.  I wanted you to see the image, but not over power the sunrise.

Next, we positioned the “Window Sheet” over the card and stamped the tree image onto it using Black StazOn.  It really pops … doesn’t it!  Using the window sheet gives the card a totally unique dimension.

The card is finished off with the beautiful “Daffodil Delight” Seam binding.  I love how easy the seam binding is to use, and the yellow completes the card.

Now, I have one more thing to share with you …

Through December 31, Stampin’ Up! is offering a new trial product—our Cut & Ready Card Bases. These pre-scored, pre-cut card bases will make it easy for you to create a stack of cards in no time—or even just a card or two. Think of it . . . holiday cards, thank you cards, party invitations, and more in a snap! (We can hear you breathe a sigh of relief.)

The Perfect Holiday Solution

Here’s why these card bases will help you relax and enjoy the season:

  1. You’ll save work and time not having to cut and score cards—even if you’re simply making a card or two.

  2. You’ll be able to make multiples in no time.

So Many Color Choices!

Our Card Bases are made from Stampin’ Up!’s high-quality cardstock! They are available in a variety of colors for any occasion or creative whim. We’ve chosen these colors to coordinate with the holiday catalog Designer Series Papers—to make it even easier to get those holiday cards done.

The Details

Each Card Base package contains:

  • 20 pre-scored, pre-cut cards in one color

  • Each card measures 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″-scored at 4-1/4″. Finished card size is 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″. (Card Bases are packaged flat.)
