Simply Sunday: You’re My Light

Hello Stampin’ Friends,

As promised, I am back with a card share from the “From Land to Sea” stamp set. I think this is a very versatile set, but one look at the lighthouse and I knew I had to have it!

My card was created in honor of Father’s Day even though my own Father has long since passed, I think of a good Dad as a “guiding light” for his children. Just like a lighthouse … they are there to guide us through the foggy or difficult times in our life.

000_2305

A simple card … illustrating that you don’t need all of the latest gadgets and tricks to create a nice card. I simply stamped my own background with the wheel, did a bit of layering for a dramatic color scheme, and popped up my lighthouse and greeting with dimensionals for “dimension” and texture.

I stamped my lighthouse with the Momento Ink Pad and then colored it with the Real Red marker. My greeting comes from the “Petite Pairs” stamp set.  I thought the “no matter what” worked perfectly for a Father’s Day card.

One little tip … because I used dimensionals on my lighthouse and greeting, I needed to use 3 of them on the right side of my greeting to even it out! Now that’s dimension!! lol

000_2308

I do have the ingredients for this card listed at the bottom of my post. Just click on any item to learn more about it, or to begin shopping at my on-line store.

Hope you all have a wonderful day, and I wish all you Dad’s out there … the happiest of Father’s Days!

Thanks for sharing a bit of your day with me.

Crazy about You …

Hello Stampin’ Friends,

If you haven’t noticed, I’ve been having a great time down in my Stampin’ Studio creating cards with all the new products from the Occasions and Sale-a-bration catalogs.

Today I’d like to share a touch of Valentine’s day with you … before we know it, it will be here and we want to be prepared. I began with the cute new “Happy Heart” Textured Impressions folder and used it with the “Shimmery White” cardstock.

000_1879

Sometimes I like to pull stuff out of my stash, that I haven’t used for a while. I find that most of the time is works beautifully together with our new items, and our Shimmery White cardstock is subtly beautiful with just a touch of shimmer.

I wanted to create a “Shaker Card” so I used the “Sweetheart” punch from the catalog and punched out a section for my window. I covered it with a piece of the Window Sheets and then used the outer edges of the stampin’ dimensionals to create the “well” in which I put my confetti in.

To create the confetti I used the “Confetti Heart Border Punch” in the Occasions catalog – pg.5. and punched them out in different colors, the punch already supplies you with different sizes! I then pealed off the backing from the stampin’ dimensionals and covered it with a piece of the Shimmery White cardstock.

Now, I wanted some type of greeting or verse on the inside so I decided to create my own with the “Crazy About You” stamp set. It contains 33 stamps and will create endless greetings and or verses for you. Here is what I came up with …

000_1881

I snuck the little hearts out of the “Hello Life” stamp set to complete the look on the inside.

To finish the outside of my card, I added one more heart that I punched our of Rich Razzelberry. The heart comes from the “Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack”.

I wanted the “shaker” part of the card to be the focal point so did not add a greeting or ribbon to the front … just the one little heart. As it turns out, it matches those little hearts from the embossing folder perfectly!

Thanks for dropping by,,, have a heartfelt day

STAMPIN’ SUPPLY LIST …

A Year in Review ….

Hello Stampin’ Friends,

Today is New Year’s Eve day and I thought that I would share with you some of my favorite creations from this past year, what I discovered going through my cards is that you like them for different reasons!

Some you like because they are cute and easy to replicate, others because they have a really neat technique, so hard as it was to pick, here they are …

000_0663

This was from a January post … I love the fun the Silver Vellum brings with the polka dots and the the flower spread that highlights the greeting! And who doesn’t love turquoise?!

* * * * * * * * * *

000_0857

Here’s a cheery card with a lot of sparkle! This is a fun and easy technique you can do with any designer paper. Simply dab your VersaMark pad evenly over your designer paper, add “Iridescent Ice” embossing powder and heat! Soooo pretty!

* * * * * * * * * *

000_1003

Everyone I know loves punch art … and here is my little Easter Bunny I did last year. With a few ovals, a circle and the Boho Blossom punch – I gave him life! And I especially love his little Easter Eggs … those are the silver glimmer paper died with our ink refills and a sponge dauber! Now we have the fabulous fringe scissors so you no longer have to cut grass the hard way!

* * * * * * * * * *

pic2

I love this one because I stepped out of my comfort zone! You don’t see me creating card with the abstract stamp sets but I really like the “Work of Art” set! Here I used the “Ombre” technique: different shades of the same color (or color family). Plus I used the new “Blendabilites” markers and colored my rhinestones!

* * * * * * * * * *

000_1154

First of all … I love “The Open Sea” stamp set teamed up with the “Maritime” Designer Series paper, you just can’t go wrong. Here is the first time I did the “Reflection” Technique … I know, why did I wait so long? It’s really easy to do!

First stamp your image onto the cardstock, then I used a piece of “Window Sheet” stamped the onto that, flip it over so the ink is to the paper, align image and press down! It will come out lighter, but that’s OK … it’s a reflection!

* * * * * * * * * *

000_1292

Here is another one of my fav’s … because it’s our Ronald McDonald House Charity Stamp set. Stampin’ Up! is a partner to the RMHC and for each stamp set we sell … $3.00 is donated to the Ronald McDonald Houses.

134306G          38462c7375ca777e506fb182285a0f54

Just think, if I sell 300 stamp set … $300 is donated! Add that by 10,000 more demonstrators … It’s really powerful, and wonderful! But don’t leave it up to someone else … get your stamp set and help in the fabulous cause… housing families so they can be close to their terminally ill sons, daughters, brothers, & sisters. It truly is heart-warming. PURCHASE NOW ♥

* * * * * * * * * *

000_1386

My last (I’m not going to do Christmas because you just saw most of them, and can easily go back to review) I’m sharing my Halloween card… it is much simpler to do than it appears! Mask an area off – I used post-it notes and then sponge on your desired color.

I started with the Daffodil Delight at the top, then moved into the Pumpkin Pie, and last I sponged the Blackberry Bliss (LOVE that Color!). The stamp set is from the Holiday catalog called “Holiday Home” … I just colored in the entire image so it created a silhouette.

* * * * * * * * * *

It was hard to choose a few favorites, and I hope I represented the year well. I love sharing my ideas and new techniques with you.

If you enjoy my blog … please, pass it on to a friend and have them follow me too. I have so much more to show you in the New Year. I invite you to “LIKE” my Facebook Page too!

Thank you so much for stopping by today …

Take good care, have a wonderful New Year’s Eve!

Christmas Card Parade …

Hello Stampin’ Friends ~

Today I want to share a few of the Christmas cards that I have received from friends and family. You will see that some of the stamp sets used are retired, but I figured many of you have those stamp sets so you would yet another card idea!

Enjoy ….

000_1821

Cindy used the “Ornamental Pine” stamp set found in the Holiday catalog.

000_1822

Many of you will recognize this ornament that Nancy used, it also had framelits to match.

000_1823

This Christmas card was from my Mom. I believe our friend Sandy H. helped her with this card.

000_1824

Barb used the “Pinwheel” technique for her card. The greeting comes from the Christmas Bliss Photopolymer stamp set.

000_1825

Jenny created this card using the Bright & Beautiful stamp set, Star Framelits, and Lucky Stars folder.

000_1826

This card was done by my sister Rita … Embossed in gold.

000_1827

Sandy H. made her card using the “Circle Card Framelit” die

000_1828

Our last card was made by a husband & wife team: Kathie and Roger!

I want to thank all of you who have sent me cards, they are all so pretty, and they have warmed my heart.

Hopefully I will have more time to share additional Christmas cards. Thanks for stopping by.

Have a wonderful Sunday ~

Big Brothers / Big Sisters Organization Stamp Camp

Hello Stampin’ Friends,

Yesterday afternoon I had the pleasure of working with the Big Brothers / Big Sisters Organization. The local Volunteer Center donated the facility for us … it was a wonderful collaboration by all so the “Big Sisters” and their “littles” could spend an afternoon together stamping.

000_1753

The theme for the stamp camp was Christmas… the season of giving. The projects everyone made reflected a “giving theme” and I elaborated that the beauty of stamping is much like Christmas … a gathering of friends.

Our first project we did was the “Santa Card” … so easy but so stinkin’ cute!

000_1757

We used the Real Red cardstock as our base and Basic Black for the belt. The buckle was created with the Silver Foil paper and the Curvy Label punch.

We used the beautiful new “Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper” for the fur on the jacket, and finished it off with the “Happy Holidays” greeting I borrowed from my November Paper Pumpkin Kit.

Our next project was the Christmas Treat Tree Box … this comes from the October Paper Pumpkin Kit. The adhesive is already on the cardstock … all we did was punch out the tree and add a window sheet … Ta Da!

000_1755

I should have put candy in it for you … it really is cute, and who wouldn’t want a cute treat box filled with candy!

Our last project was the sweet little treat box … remember, our theme was “the season of giving”.

000_1754

Create a belly band with any designer paper, the one shown here is retired. My poinsettia flower was created using the “Petite Petals” punch. It takes a bit of layering to get it to look this full but our group did an awesome job!

The front tag was created using the “Cheerful Tags” stamp set … just wanted to add a greeting to our gift box.  These “Tiny Treat Boxes” can be found in the Holiday catalog.

I hope you enjoyed viewing our Stamp Camp projects … I had a wonderful time with the Big Sisters and their littles. I also want to Thank the Volunteer Center for letting us all gather together for the afternoon in their facility.

Wishing you all a fabulous day today ~

Holiday Retreat Swap Share 2 …

Hello Stampin’ Friends,

I hope you had a wonderful weekend!

Last Monday I said I would share more swaps from our 2014 Holiday Stampin’ Retreat … today I have 3 more for you! Let’s begin with Eileen’s swap card ….

000_1694

Eileen used the new “Cheerful Christmas” stamp set and Filigree Frame folder from the Nordic Noel Suite found on pages 14 & 15 of the Holiday Catalog. She framed it so beautifully by using the Apothecary Accents Framelit Die.

She used Real Red, Old Olive and Whisper White for her card … then added a pop of red holiday cheer by coloring her rhinestones. This card truly sends cheer for Christmas!

Our next swap is from Cindy P. …

000_1696

Cindy’s all Whisper White present card is striking with the bold pop of red ribbon. Her gifts were embossed with the Lovely Lace, Woodgrain, and Perfect Polka Dots embossing folders. With each layer you get the dimension of real Christmas gifts … how lovely!

The third swap comes from Cindy S. …

000_1701

Cindy’s card was done in Island Indigo and Sahara Sand with just a pop of White to tie in her snowflakes! The snowflakes and greeting come from the “Endless Wishes” stamp set found in the Holiday Catalog.

You may think you have enough snowflake stamp sets, but with the many greetings included in this set … you will have “endless” ways to say Merry Christmas!

Cindy also used the Silver Metallic Ribbon and Frosted Sequins to highlight her card … It’s simply stunning.

I am so glad that Kris suggested doing swaps at our Retreats, because not only do they get to do all the wonderful cards & projects at retreat, but they also get the beautiful cards made by each other… How wouldn’t be inspired 🙂

Thank you for checking out my blog today, I hope you enjoyed these beautiful cards as well.

Have a wonderful week.

The “JOY” of Christmas Cards and Stampin’ Tips!

Hello Stampin’ Friends,

OK … Halloween is over and many of you know that I just loved that “Motley Monsters” Designer Series paper, but what are we going to do with it now that Halloween is over?

Don’t fret … I have an obvious solution for you in today’s card share plus an awesome stamping tip! 000_1646

The obvious answer … Yep, flip it over! The great wood-grain paper below comes from “Motley Monsters”! I teamed it up with the “Wondrous Wreath” stamp set and coordinating framelits. Save 15% when you bundle the stamp set with the framelits!

000_1654

The stamp set and framelits are amazing to work with … the beautiful color you create when using this two-step stamp set. I stamped Old Olive onto the Whisper White and then the Mossy Meadow in-color on top of the Olive.

* Just a quick reminder that the tabs on the photopolymer stamps are there for you to align the images and make your stamping easier.

000_1535

You know me, I wanted that holiday sparkle so I used the Red Glimmer Paper and Cherry Cobbler Dazzling Details. I had a blast putting this card together. The Multi-purpose glue works wonders on glimmer paper and holds superbly.

Yes, the “JOY” comes in the Wonderful Wreath framelits collection!!

000_1652-B

One of the things I liked about this stamp set was that it also had a beautiful verse for the inside of the card, but if you are like me …. you can never stamp it straight! Today I want to share an easy solution to that problem …

1. Begin with the Grid Paper and align the inside of your card so it’s straight …

000_1647

2. Use Washi tape and place it where you want your verse to “end” ….

(I unsticky my washi tape a bit by placing it on my skin or clothing … you don’t want it to peel your cardstock)

3. Align the bottom of your verse slightly above your washi tape and stamp …

000_1649

Ahhh … doesn’t that look nice! Perfectly straight! I love it, I love it, I love it! Why didn’t I think of this before, like 13 years ago – lol.

000_1651

I hope you enjoyed my card and stamping tips …

000_1654

I’d love to hear what you think… you can leave me a message below. I will have another “Motley Monsters” transformation for you tomorrow!

Till then, have a great day ~

PS… I still haven’t found those swaps!

STAMPIN’ SUPPLY LIST …

Simply … Merry!

Hello Stampin’ Friends,

Today I would like to share a card that I did as a Make & Take at Alice’s stampin’ party.

We began with Lost Lagoon, a new in-color this year and it coordinates perfectly with the “All is Calm” Specialty Designer Paper.  Specialty… Why?

Because not only does this packet contain the pretty double-sided designer papers, but it also has 2 beautiful silver foil embossed designs. A must have for your holiday cardmaking this year.

000_1636

I chose the paper with the pretty little snowflakes because it goes so well with the snowflake design of the “Merry” in the Seasonally Scattered stamp set.

We stamped our image with the coordinating Blue Lagoon ink and tied it all up with the Blue Lagoon ribbon! I love how everything coordinates … makes life so much easier!

I wanted a bit of holiday sparkle… so we added a few rhinestones to our card. So simple and fun to make, especially when your sitting around the table with a bunch of your friends and family.

I would love to host a stampin’ party for you and your friends. With the holidays coming it’s a great time to get together, see all the wonderful holiday stamps and accessories, and go home with a couple of cute Christmas cards!

000_1637

Contact me (lindaluvs2stamp@aol.com) … we’ll pick a date and begin planning a FUN get together for your friends and check out the free hostess goodies for you!

I have listed all the supplies you need to make the card below.

Our retreat stamping was in the bag …

Hello Stampin’ Friends,

Today is Day 2 of my “Holiday Retreat” series and I would like to take you along to our first stamping session on Friday evening.  After a dinner of hot turkey sandwiches, fruit salad, taco dip & chips and more, we retreated to our stamping area …

Stamp room - blog post

I set up the area before my guests arrive so they can just come in and begin the fun. The projects are pre-cut for them but they still get to do some of the BigShotting, embossing and punching.  On Friday we began with a project, an awesome bag they could take their cards home in and pass on for a gift.

I’m sure some of you recognize the “Paper Pumpkin” bag … One of the benefits of being a Paper Pumpkin supscriber is that you can order “past kits” when available … and this is one of my favorites!  I’ve personally used them many times.   Click Link for more information …

DemoHeader_PastKits_Demo_Feb18_NA

I jazzed it up with our beautiful “Under the Tree” Specialty Designer Series paper found on page 5 of the Holiday catalog. A touch of Old Olive behind it really highlights the snowflake pattern.

000_1613

The precious snowflake comes from the “Snowflake Card Thinlit Dies” and is done in the stunning Champagne Glimmer Paper. I will admit that the large Rhinestones used for the center are now discontinued, but my guests learned how easy it is to color any of their Rhinestones and Pearls with our Blendabilities … we used the “Skin Tone Assortment”.

I swapped out the ribbon from the kit and used the “Natural & Old Olive” Two-Tone Trim for the handles … they look so cool! All the colors came together so nicely to create a beautiful holiday bag that could be given to a man or women.

Tomorrow I’ll be sharing a few of the swap cards that my ladies created … we did an all occasion swap! There was a lot of talent in out stamping group!
