A Year in Review ….

Hello Stampin’ Friends,

Today is New Year’s Eve day and I thought that I would share with you some of my favorite creations from this past year, what I discovered going through my cards is that you like them for different reasons!

Some you like because they are cute and easy to replicate, others because they have a really neat technique, so hard as it was to pick, here they are …

000_0663

This was from a January post … I love the fun the Silver Vellum brings with the polka dots and the the flower spread that highlights the greeting! And who doesn’t love turquoise?!

* * * * * * * * * *

000_0857

Here’s a cheery card with a lot of sparkle! This is a fun and easy technique you can do with any designer paper. Simply dab your VersaMark pad evenly over your designer paper, add “Iridescent Ice” embossing powder and heat! Soooo pretty!

* * * * * * * * * *

000_1003

Everyone I know loves punch art … and here is my little Easter Bunny I did last year. With a few ovals, a circle and the Boho Blossom punch – I gave him life! And I especially love his little Easter Eggs … those are the silver glimmer paper died with our ink refills and a sponge dauber! Now we have the fabulous fringe scissors so you no longer have to cut grass the hard way!

* * * * * * * * * *

pic2

I love this one because I stepped out of my comfort zone! You don’t see me creating card with the abstract stamp sets but I really like the “Work of Art” set! Here I used the “Ombre” technique: different shades of the same color (or color family). Plus I used the new “Blendabilites” markers and colored my rhinestones!

* * * * * * * * * *

000_1154

First of all … I love “The Open Sea” stamp set teamed up with the “Maritime” Designer Series paper, you just can’t go wrong. Here is the first time I did the “Reflection” Technique … I know, why did I wait so long? It’s really easy to do!

First stamp your image onto the cardstock, then I used a piece of “Window Sheet” stamped the onto that, flip it over so the ink is to the paper, align image and press down! It will come out lighter, but that’s OK … it’s a reflection!

* * * * * * * * * *

000_1292

Here is another one of my fav’s … because it’s our Ronald McDonald House Charity Stamp set. Stampin’ Up! is a partner to the RMHC and for each stamp set we sell … $3.00 is donated to the Ronald McDonald Houses.

134306G          38462c7375ca777e506fb182285a0f54

Just think, if I sell 300 stamp set … $300 is donated! Add that by 10,000 more demonstrators … It’s really powerful, and wonderful! But don’t leave it up to someone else … get your stamp set and help in the fabulous cause… housing families so they can be close to their terminally ill sons, daughters, brothers, & sisters. It truly is heart-warming. PURCHASE NOW ♥

* * * * * * * * * *

000_1386

My last (I’m not going to do Christmas because you just saw most of them, and can easily go back to review) I’m sharing my Halloween card… it is much simpler to do than it appears! Mask an area off – I used post-it notes and then sponge on your desired color.

I started with the Daffodil Delight at the top, then moved into the Pumpkin Pie, and last I sponged the Blackberry Bliss (LOVE that Color!). The stamp set is from the Holiday catalog called “Holiday Home” … I just colored in the entire image so it created a silhouette.

* * * * * * * * * *

It was hard to choose a few favorites, and I hope I represented the year well. I love sharing my ideas and new techniques with you.

If you enjoy my blog … please, pass it on to a friend and have them follow me too. I have so much more to show you in the New Year. I invite you to “LIKE” my Facebook Page too!

Wintertime Calm …

Hello Stampin’ Friends,

Hope you had a wonderful weekend! Since I took Saturday off from blogging, I figured I would share a special post with you today. I am going to show you a progression of cards, from simple to a touch of glitz.

I started ever so simple with the “All is Calm” Specialty Designer Paper and the “Wintertime” stamp set. I haven’t used it yet, but have been dying to get my hands on it and stamp!

000_1782

My core colors that I used are Pool Party and Island Indigo … even though those are not listed on the designer paper pack, the Pool Party went well with the pattern I chose.

I simply inked up the stamp with the Island Indigo and stamped directly onto the designer paper… assemble and you have a cute and quick card! Simple can still be pretty.

Now … If you’re one of us who like some sparkle to your cards, my next sample illustrates what a few rhinestones can do for your card. Oh my that’s pretty!

000_1786

If you’d like to step it up a bit more and highlight the greeting, simply stamp another image onto the Whisper White cardstock … cut it out … and mat it with a little piece of Island Indigo.

000_1789

Wow… that really adds dimension and gives your card a new look.

If you still don’t have enough sparkle … then instead of the Pool Party mat behind the designer paper, you could use our beautiful (and new) Dazzling Diamonds Shimmer paper.

000_1793

Look at how that makes the entire card pop! So whether you like a more simple and subtle card or full out bling … you can see how easy you can transform your cards.

So head off into your stamp room and have some fun! Feel free to share your projects with me (lindaluvs2stamp@aol.com) I’d love to share your project with our stampin’ friends on Linda’s Stampin’ Escape blog… with your permission of course!

Thank you for stopping by my blog.

Have yourself a wonderful day ~

Snuggles and Smooches …

Hello Stampin’ Friends,

Today I want to share with you our newest “Photopolymer stamp set… Snuggles and Smooches”. It may seem like it is just for Valentine’s Day, but I think it could be used any time of the year when you want to share some affection with those you love.

Photo 1 - Snuggles and Smooches

Two of my favorite images in the set are the swirls. I’m sure you’ve noticed how trendy it is to wind up some Linen Thread or Baker’s Twine and use it as an element on cards and other projects. You can see on this card how the large swirl image helps accomplish a similar feel.

Photo 2 - Oodles of Valentine

The swirls also create interesting background patterns that can be used with a technique like emboss resist—as shown on this adorable little card.

Photo 3 - My Silly Valentine

Or simply stamp—as I did on this tag. The “Love” sentiment works great for creating a chalkboard effect.

Photo 4 - Love Tag

There are three heart images in this stamp set. They were drawn to coordinate with  three of our heart punches: the Sweetheart Punch, the Hearts Border Punch, and the heart from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack. The “Love” sentiment will also coordinate with either of the Tag Topper punches.

I can’t wait to see what you create with this stamp set—whether it’s a valentine for someone you love, notes of encouragement, memory keeping, or treat packaging.

Was I right? Super cute projects today! This stamp set is already available – Click here to view!

A Simple Tool to Mangage Your Schedule…

Hello Stampin’ Friends,

Happy Friday to you … I don’t know about you, but I’m looking forward to the weekend!

We are all locked into times and dates and such and what better way to manage your busy schedule than a calender. According to Wikipedia; A calendar is a system of organizing days for social, religious, commercial or administrative purposes.

And that’s what I have for you today! I normally don’t share my retreat projects but I had many requests, so here is the calendar our group made at the 2014 Holiday Stampin’ Retreat.

000_1716

This cute little calendar was designed to sit on your desk, kitchen counter or where ever it’s handy for you. I began by choosing my color pallet, and I started with the “All is Calm” Designer Series Paper.

The base is Smokey Slate and the pop of color is the Lost Lagoon. I created the monthly template myself and cut it out for my guests. They were held together by the Candy Dots Brad Bases. We added a Rhinestone and colored it with the Coastal Cabana Blendabilities marker.

000_1714

The piece that holds up the calendar was embossed with the Woodgrain Embossing folder. Since were making calendars, and calendars are about occasions … I chose the “A Fitting Occasion” and stamped the “made by me for you” stamp, and punched it out with the 1″ circle punch. The Soft Sky mat was punched with the 1-1/4″ circle punch.

I finished off the calendar with a banner stating “You Made My Day” … from the “And Many More” stamp set! The calendar was designed to lay flat so it could be mailed … what a cute gift that would be to get in the mail 🙂

000_1715

Hope you enjoyed my project share today. If you are interested in attending an upcoming stampin’ retreat, send me your information and I will gladly add you to my mailing list. We host a Spring (All Occasions) and Fall (Holiday) Retreat.

Our retreats are loads of fun and you not only make cards & projects … you make friends.

Thank you for stopping by Linda’s Stampin’ Escape today.

God Bless and …

If you’re a papercrafter, Christmas is probably one of your busiest times of the year. Here are some great samples …

Introducing the beautiful Nature’s Peace Stamp Set . Here’s what it looks like when you emboss it using VersaMark ink, Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder, and the Heat Tool.

A gorgeous product from the holiday catalog is the Bright & Beautiful Stamp Set. Use it to make a fun gift package. (Tip: cut the top of a Petite Café Gift Bag using the Large Scallop Edgelits Die.)

Banner Blessings Card Share …

Hello Stampin’ Friends,

Yesterday I shared with you three ideas to give the gift of creativity …. but note that any of these would be a great gift to give yourself too. There are times when you just have to treat yourself!

Today I would like to share some card samples made with the Banner Blessing that I introduced to you yesterday. This will give you some creative ideas so that when you get your Banner Blessings stamp set, you will be ready to stamp.

The cards were created by Holly Stene who also created the stamp set! I would also love to share with you, her touching story and how she came to design these stamps (see below).

friend_2d

Also used on this card are Choose Happiness, Gorgeous Grunge and Chalk Talk Framelits

shine_2

Also used on this card are Hearts & Stars Decorative Mask and Star’s Framelits

Here is Holly’s story …

About a year-and-a-half ago, Stampin’ Up! announced a new contest inviting all stampers, demonstrators and non-demonstrators, to put on their creative caps and submit a design for a monster-themed set. You all might remember my sweet friend, Doris, and her winning Monster Maniacs set? 🙂 I loved the set and didn’t mind being the runner-up to her creation. So when Shelli announced at convention that year that there would be another contest, I knew I wanted to try again!

As my mother and I drove back to Vegas from our first convention, we brainstormed all sorts of sayings and phrases that we thought would make a great stamp set. When I went back to work, I couldn’t help but doodle here and there. I would draw something, take a picture, and send it to my mom and she’d say yes or no. (She was my upline at the time so I figured she knew what would work. After all, mother knows best!)

One night I was rocking our middle son to sleep and saw the Bible verse I had painted on a canvas to match his spaceship-themed room. “Shine like stars in the universe”–one of my favorite verses of scripture. That’s when I decided I wanted to do a scripture set. I sat down and thought of a few that I felt would not only look great on a card but would reach someone who needed to be lifted up.

I was in the Air Force for nine years. All nine years were spent far from family, and even a few months were in the Middle East–away from my husband and our 7-month-old son. Nothing helped more than the scripture verses my mom or dad or my church family would write on my cards. In fact, I still have a scrap of paper with a verse that my dad sent me while I was in basic training.

There’s something special about making a card for someone and I wanted these Banner Blessings to make it even more special! Thank you, Stampin’ Up!, for the opportunity, and thanks to everyone for their support! I hope you enjoy the set as much as I have already! 🙂

Holly Stene

**Please note the opportunity to design stamp sets is no longer available.

One more card to share …

joyful_2This card also used the Kinda Eclectic stamp set and Heart Framelits

I hope you enjoyed Holly’s cards as much as I did. She truly highlighted this wonderful stamp.

Thank You for stopping by my blog today.

Have a Fabulous Friday ~

The “JOY” of Christmas Cards and Stampin’ Tips!

Hello Stampin’ Friends,

OK … Halloween is over and many of you know that I just loved that “Motley Monsters” Designer Series paper, but what are we going to do with it now that Halloween is over?

Don’t fret … I have an obvious solution for you in today’s card share plus an awesome stamping tip! 000_1646

The obvious answer … Yep, flip it over! The great wood-grain paper below comes from “Motley Monsters”! I teamed it up with the “Wondrous Wreath” stamp set and coordinating framelits. Save 15% when you bundle the stamp set with the framelits!

000_1654

The stamp set and framelits are amazing to work with … the beautiful color you create when using this two-step stamp set. I stamped Old Olive onto the Whisper White and then the Mossy Meadow in-color on top of the Olive.

* Just a quick reminder that the tabs on the photopolymer stamps are there for you to align the images and make your stamping easier.

000_1535

You know me, I wanted that holiday sparkle so I used the Red Glimmer Paper and Cherry Cobbler Dazzling Details. I had a blast putting this card together. The Multi-purpose glue works wonders on glimmer paper and holds superbly.

Yes, the “JOY” comes in the Wonderful Wreath framelits collection!!

000_1652-B

One of the things I liked about this stamp set was that it also had a beautiful verse for the inside of the card, but if you are like me …. you can never stamp it straight! Today I want to share an easy solution to that problem …

1. Begin with the Grid Paper and align the inside of your card so it’s straight …

000_1647

2. Use Washi tape and place it where you want your verse to “end” ….

(I unsticky my washi tape a bit by placing it on my skin or clothing … you don’t want it to peel your cardstock)

3. Align the bottom of your verse slightly above your washi tape and stamp …

000_1649

Ahhh … doesn’t that look nice! Perfectly straight! I love it, I love it, I love it! Why didn’t I think of this before, like 13 years ago – lol.

000_1651

I hope you enjoyed my card and stamping tips …

000_1654

I’d love to hear what you think… you can leave me a message below. I will have another “Motley Monsters” transformation for you tomorrow!

Till then, have a great day ~

Flippin’ for You!

Hello Stampin’ Friends,

I hope those of you who live near me in Wisconsin got a chance to get outside yesterday … what a beautiful day!  I also hope you all had a chance to look over the Weekly Deals I posted because today I’m going to share with you a few of those!

I’ve have the cutest card, stampin’ tips & techniques that you’ll flip over!  Let’s begin with the front of the card.  I used Melon Mambo for my flip card and the “Label Card” Thinlit die – one of our weekly deals … Sweet!

000_1483

Speaking of sweet, I paired the Melon Mambo with the “Sweet Taffy” Designer Series paper.  I cut the designer paper to fit the inside of my card, then I aligned it within the framelit die to cut out the area that flips.

000_1478

Now my designer paper is perfectly notched out and has the perfect mambo frame of color around it.  The Whisper White pieces for the greetings, were cut with one of the thinlits that are included with the card thinlit … it actually contains 9 dies!

000_1479

Because I love polka dots and texture … I used the “Perfect Polka Dot” folder to the left side of my lip card.  I took a picture of how I just tucked that piece into the folder, then folded the card behind the folder.  I did not use any tabs when embossing this folder.

000_1481

My greeting is from “Yippee Skippee” … also on sale this week!  I love this quirky and fun stamp set.  I used the black StazOn™ because I like the richness of the black color, and it smells good! LOL

I snuck the little heart from the “Another Thank You” stamp set to add a bit more color to my sentiments.

The third item from the Weekly deals list that I am using on my card, is the brand NEW “Sweetheart” punch!!  I punched it out of the Silver Glimmer paper and dyed it Melon Mambo!

TO DYE: All you need is a sponge dauber … then you can either use the ink pad or the ink refill.  I prefer the refill because it’s quicker and I get a darker color quicker.  Stampin’ Tip …  I dampen the sponge dauber first (not wet) but it really helps spread the ink evenly over the glimmer paper.

Now, for the inside of the card …

000_1484

I hope you enjoyed today’s card, the stampin’ tips of trimming the designer paper, embossing just a section of a card, and the technique of dying glimmer paper.

I’d love to hear what you think!  Thanks so much for following along.

Time for a “Man Card” …

Hello Stampin’ Friends,

We are always looking for masculine card ideas, even at Christmas time … well look no further!  I have the answer to your “I need a manly Christmas Card”  search.

I wanted to keep it simple so I chose the monochromatic color scheme of Early Espresso and Whisper White with just a pop of Pistachio Pudding.

Today I’m using the “Trim the Tree” Designer Series Paper Stack to create my “manly” Christmas card.    This paper stack has so many delightful patterns you will be able to make a ton of great cards with it. I picked the “trees” and teamed it with the Woodgrain embossing folder.

Instead of a bow, I used the Thick Bakers Twine and simply tied a knot into it.  It’s great for guy cards and added a nice touch of dimension.

The greeting “peace & joy” is from the exclusive “Good Greetings” hostess set.  Remember you can get this free when you have a qualifying stampin’ party, book show, or order.  Contact me for details.
