Stampin’ Up! Convention Day 1

Hello Stampers ~

We are having a great time in Salt Lake City!  Today opening session began at 5 pm … a bit different from years past.  I’m sure we will be in for many surprises this week, considering it is their 25th Anniversary.

We begin with a greeting on the convention center doors upon arrival …

thur1

Oh my … look at the lines (and this is the back half).  There are approximately 5800 demonstrators in attendance!  This is one of the largest group at Salt Lake if I recall correctly.  We did a “scavenger hunt” … convention related and had a blast – I will post that another time.

thur2

Opening session is always kicked off with the Convention theme song “Be the Difference” and this year we had one of the singers from the “VOICE” performing.  It was pretty cool to watch … even pyro-technics this year!

thur3

This year marks our 10th year as a sponsor to the Ronald McDonald House Charities.  Through the sales of exclusively designed stamp sets, we have donated over 1 Million dollars (Making a Difference).  Many demonstrators have donated their time and efforts to their local houses.  Shelli (co-founder and CEO) announced that we are now going “international” and our efforts will help children and their families at the Ronald McDonald Houses all over the world.

thur4

One of the “fun” things Stampin’ Up! does at Convention is “Prize Patrol”.  We are all given wrist bands and after each demonstration (tonight’s was done by Pam Morgan) the bring out the prize patrol by calling off a color of the wrist bands.  Tonight one of our group members won a prize package: Cindy Schneider!  Congratulations!!     They will be doing this throughout the next few days so I hope my other Star’s are as lucky as Cindy!

thur5

ANNOUNCEMENT: For those of you who have been sitting on the fence deciding when you were going to sign up for Paper Pumpkin … time to jump off and release your inner creative goddess!  If you sign up before August 31st … you will receive two months for ONLY $10! (before ship/tax).  If you’re not sure how this works, contact me and I will help.  If you’re ready, just click on the link on my side bar – Paper Pumpkin!

thur6

And … to close the session, Shelli and her team sent us off with a brand new stamp set from the new Holiday Catalog!!  Wooo Hooo … I love this set, it’s so cute and it captures 4 seasons!  Watch for cards on upcoming blog posts with this set.

thur7

I hope you enjoyed sitting in on opening session with me… there will be so much more.  Can’t wait to create a slideshow of all the fun things we did and share it with you.

Have an awesome day!

More tid bits from SLC …

Hi Stampers ~

We’ll we had a couple guesses on the stamp set and color combination for yesterdays card post, and I will let you know the answers when I get home.  Meanwhile … here was our little shopping excursion.  Ok … I’m not going to drag you through the stores, but show you some of the interesting things we found around the new city center.

I wish I would have gotten a picture of the security guy at Tiffany’s … he looked like an FBI agent!

This picture is of the long silver thingee’s …. they moved with the wind and were so pretty and graceful looking, quite unique.

101_1442

The City Center as they call it, was completed last year … we have been walking around scaffolding for the past 5, it was nice to see it completed.

101_1448

There are four main building all interconnected, and this is typical of the open areas… some of the streams included fish.  It was very pretty and tranquil and nice to see amidst all the concrete.  Oh my gosh, I’m starting to sound like a tour guide.  I believe this is my 5th or 6th trip to Salt Lake City … It is my mission to see something different each time I come (so far so good!).

Here is one hallways … very nice.  I loved the light fixtures and decided it was time for a photo op with the girls!

101_1459

All three are members of my downline (stampers who have joined Stampin’ Up! onto my teams of “Star’s”.  From left to right is Kathy, Eileen (my sister) and Cindy.  I do believe this is the 3rd convention with me for all three of them.  We have two more in our group – Brenda and Debi but they were on a site seeing tour of the city.

Hope you enjoyed the little trip …. there will be so much more to come.  Tomorrow we get to check in, get our bags and check out some of the stampin’ stations.  Then at 5 -they will kick off convention with opening session and a meet -n- greet party to follow!  Here we go ………………..!

In Salt Lake City …

Hi Stampers,

Sorry I missed posting yesterday, but we flew out at 6 am which means we left home at 3 am and were at the airport by 4am.  We arrived in Salt Lake City around 9:30 or so but didn’t get any pictures.  I must say, yesterday was a bit of a blur (no sleep).

I am having technical difficulties posting ….  I can’t seem to download the program needed to do my pictures and the internet at the hotel keeps blowing me off the internet!  GRRRRR!  I know I’m suppose to be on vacation, but I wanted to take you along on this wonderful experience.

I will wait until Brenda is back from her excursion and see if she can help me … she is good at those things!

Meanwhile, I wanted to share a swap card that I got at a previous Convention ….

HOSTESS - APPLE BLOSSOMS 1

So … can anyone tell me what stamp set this flower comes from??  Can you guess the color combination?

Put your answers in the comment box, let’s see who’s right!

Thanks for stopping by ….

See you tomorrow!

Whooooo’s Birthday?

Hello stampin’ friends ~

Whoooooooo’s got a birthday?  Oh my gosh… I have had this cute owl punch for so long and I have not taken the time to play with it like I should have, so today I’m sharing with you, my latest creation.  He’s so cute; you’re going to fall in love with him.

101_1430

This card really is simple to make…

Begin with a designer series paper in a green tone (Suggestions: Subtles (130135) Color Collection Designer Series Paper Stacks / or GinghamGarden (129310) Designer Series Paper – either of these will work great)

You will also need:

I created the leaves out of scrap cardstock that coordinated with my paper, then folded it in half.  I then folded it again, creating the lines.

The paper snips works great to cut the grass … just don’t try that in your backyard!  (Bad joke… sorry!)

128703LHere is the Perfectly Penned stamp set. Do you have this set yet?

I find myself using this quite a bit.  It’s fun and cheerful and that is usually what we want to accomplish when we send someone a card.

Thanks so much for stopping by today.

Have a wonderful day!.

Gettin’ ready for Convention 2013!

Hi Stampers!

Another week has flown by and I just don’t know where this time is going.  It’s been two weeks since Frabill has shut down and I don’t think I’ve got anything done!

Oh well… no need to dwell on that, I have packing to do.  I will be spending this weekend preparing for my trip to Salt Lake City for the 2013 Stampin’ Up! national Convention.  It’s always a good time.  I’m going out with 5 of my “Star’s” – downline members and I always run into fellow demonstrators from other states that I have become friends with over the past 13 years.

I’d like to share a little of this experience with you today.  Since we fly in before convention begins, we do a lot of sight-seeing.  This is some of the whimsical art SLC (Salt Lake City) has along our walk to the convention center.

100_3806

Stampin’ Up! always offers tours to the home office, I’ve been there several times but enjoying going there.  It’s just a short trip to Riverton.  This is the view you see when you walk in the front doors … amazing!  The employees can also eat their lunch …. by the waterfall.

100_3653

Each year, Stampin’ Up! demonstrators from across the US and Canada gather for three days of education, celebration, and motivation. Convention always includes time to swap cards, attend business classes and new-product demonstrations, participate in Make & Takes, and enjoy time with the best stampers in the world!

If you need samples … not a problem at Convention!

NEED SAMPLES 2- CONVENTION 2010

Ok… If you are wondering why I have a painted flower on my face and the plastic “peace sign” necklace – we were attending the Opening “Social”.  Each year they have a “theme”… guess what this one was!

Here I am with my downline member and friend Connie, Shelli Gardner (CEO and Co-founder of Stampin’ Up!) in the hat and her husband Sterling.  Aren’t we “groovy”!  Peace!

100_4071

I’m looking forward to this years convention … It’s their 25 year anniversary, so it’s going to be FUN!

convention_USCA_-LP_b1_2011

We’re leaving on Tuesday which gives us 2 days to sight-see and explore.  I may need that first day to sleep… I never seem to be able to sleep before I go on vacation! LOL

I’ll keep you posted on all the updates and excitement!

Thank you …

Hello and Happy Friday!

Since I have taken you through my appreciation party the past few days, I find it only fitting that you get to see what I have been creating since the party… and what better card than a “Thank you”!

There are so many new stamp sets that I fell in love with in this catalog, but the one I find that I have used the most is the “Million & One”.  The font is totally me – I love it, and I think it goes so well with the Modern Medley Designer Series Paper.  Each of the patterns shown are included…  (2 each of 6 double sided sheets / 12 patterns in all!).

101_1420

Item Number Description page # Price
126375 Wood Million & One 63 16.95
126377 Clear Million & One 63 12.95
126926 Modern Medley Designer Series Paper 154 10.95
120906 2-1/2″ Circle Punch (card 1) 182 16.95
119868 1″ Circle Punch  (card 1) 182 12.95
119246 Basic Rhinestones (card 1) 171 4.95
117335 Perfect Polka Dot Folder (Inside of both cards) 191 7.95
119247 Basic Pearls (card 2) 171 7.95

Here I used the same stamp set and designer series paper, but did it in rectangles.  It’s amazing how such a slight change can make the cards look different.  I added pearls to this card instead of the rhinestones like the first card.  Both cards have a strip embossed on the inside using the “Perfect Polka Dot” emboss folder… I thought it added a fun touch to the cards.

101_1422

My last card … I kept the same layout, but changed the designer paper.  I used the “Gingham Garden”.  Wow…  What a difference.  This one reminds me of my grandma – she loved flowers, those colors, and the butterflies are for my Mom.

Product share …

Hello Stampers …

Hope those of you who attended the appreciation party are now caught up on your sleep!

Today I’m going to share some of the fun … and some of the winners!  Whew …hope my memory serves me right, because I was so busy calling ticket numbers, I never thought of writing down the names of the winners.

First I’d like to share with you the initiation that each “hostess” received to join me for dinner (stamping afterwards).  I cased this from a card I saw on Stampin’ Connection, but changed the color pallet to include the new In-colors: Coastal Cabana and Baked Brown Sugar.

The stamp “ I’m so grateful there’s you in the world” was very appropriate” … I love my hostesses, many have become good friends ♥  Life can’t get better than that!

 101_1409

The stamp comes from the “Chalk Talk” stamp set (pg. 12) and coordinates with the “Chalk Talk Framelits” found on page 187.  However, if you purchase them as a bundle (pg. 12) you can save 15%.

Each hostess received a bag (see below) with their Make & Takes tucked inside… Aren’t they cute?  They were so easy and quick to make – Great for kids parties and more.

The pretty Silver Glimmer Paper you see behind was a prize awarded to Corinne C.  for having the “all green” tag.  That was our kick-off to the give-aways!

Another contest I held and one of the hardest was … Guess Linda’s favorite NEW Stamp Set in the “catalog”!  I know right!  Well, here it is …. TIMELESS TALK

126607S

I just love the “nostalgic look” and I think it would make awesome cards for both men and women.  So much so, I’m hosting a TIMELESS TALK CLASS on Thursday, July 25th after I return home from convention.  Click here for full details.

And can you believe it – I did have one person who guessed correctly … Kris H. (Way to go!)

Kris got to the NEW Candy Dots in the color family of her choice.  If you don’t have them yet, you will need to put them on your wish list – they are addicting!  They almost look like those “candies” we ate as kids (we don’t want anyone eating these).

130931S

Congratulations also go out to Kris H., Monica G., Cindy B., and Judy Z. for guessing my favorite stamps set from the cards we made… they all received the Vintage Faceted Buttons (this picture does not do them justice) they are so pretty and I use them often on cards and scrapbook pages.127555TAlso want to send out congratulations to all the “Board” winners, and Sarah B. for winning the grand prize!  Grand prize included a Stampin’ Up! bag, a stamp set, a scrapbooking kit and ribbon slides!

Thank you all for attending the party, and can’t wait to stamp with you again!

Hope the rest of you enjoyed hearing about our party.  If you would like to join this exclusive event next year … you may do so by joining one of my many clubs or hosting a stampin’ party!  We’d love for you to join us.

Have an awesome day today ~

Hello Sweet Friend …

Happy Wednesday Stampers ~

What a response I’ve been getting from my stampers about the appreciation party!  I am “honored” to know that you are so excited and hyped up after the event that you can’t sleep … I thought it was just me!!  We might have to start an “after-party” stamp camp!

As promised … I am posting the winner of “My Favorite Sample Board” … the Six-Sided Sampler stamp set!  I had so much fun creating the sample cards that went on the board (wish I would have taken pictures of the boards!)  Next time!!

One of my favorite cards is … 101_1395

I think the flower is just too cute!  I used the hexagon stamp with the “polka dots” and stamped it in Daffodil Delight.  The punch makes making petals a breeze!

Then, with the polka dot embossing folder – I embossed the Early Espresso circle and the Whisper White background.  To create the stem, I used the large oval punch and a piece of Garden Green cardstock.

I wanted to do something a bit different for the greeting, so I punched out a hexagon and tucked the greeting behind it.  The greeting was stamped on a separate piece of cardstock and sponged with Daffodil Delight so it would stand out more.  The photo is a bit deceiving … it almost looks like it’s on top.

Tag It … wins?

H-E-L-L-O Stampers!

Wow … I had a great time last night!  I want to send a BIG “THANK YOU” out to all my hostesses and customers (aka: Stampin’ Friends) who attended the Appreciation Party last night.

One of the “games” we played at the event was “ Guess Linda’s favorite stamp set” from the sample boards that were there.  The Stamp Set that earned the most votes was “TAG IT”!  I will admit, it is in my top 5, and I love the fact the with each purchase of this set, we help families who’s children are ill and use the Ronald McDonald Houses.  My goal is to sell 100 “Tag it” sets… a donation of $300!  Will you join me?

blog insert - shop now

So today, I am going to share 2 more cards that I made using the “TAG IT” stamp set.  Both of these cards were on the “Tag It – board” that was raffled off at the end of the night.  Winner gets all cards on the board.

The first is the “Get Well Soon” card … so easy; no explanation is needed on the construction of this card.

Next, is the “Celebrate” card … I love the bright, bold colors on this card: Gumball Green, Pacific Point and Real Red.

Since I used the stamp with the little lizard, I wanted to create a “scaley” pattern (is that a word?) for the background.  I did this using the “Fancy Fan” Embossing folder … sideways!  This leaves an un-embossed area on the top and bottom of the background, but I loved the effect.

The tag was created with the “Chalk Talk” Frame-lits.  This is a great set of framelits to have, it not only coordinates with this (Tag It) stamp set, it also coordinates with; Chalk Talk (pg. 12) Notable Notions (pg.98) and Lovely Romance (pg.63) … wow!  And I’m sure that some of you will come up with even more stamp sets you can use this with!

Embellishments were easy on this one, I used the new “Candy Dots” as they coordinate with their color families (makes life so much easier when everything coordinates so nice).

Layered Brayer Technique

Hello …

Oh my, weekends seem to pass so quickly!  I have been busy preparing for my Hostess / Customer Appreciation and Kick-Off Party.  I invite all my hostesses from the past Stampin’ Up! year to join me for dinner and a little bit of “spoiling”.  Hostesses qualify for this exclusive event by having a stampin’ party or they are in one of my clubs.

I have all types of clubs: scrapbooking (2 – 12 x 12 pages), techniques (most popular / 2 cards and a 6 x 6 technique sheet) and stamp-n-scrap (they make a card and 1 – 12 x 12 page).  I am currently filling my clubs for the upcoming 2013-14 stampin’ year.  We begin in September and go through June… we meet only 1 night a month.  I have weeknight, and Saturday clubs.

Membership includes your Make-n-Takes, all main and seasonal catalogs, club only specials / discounts, and an invitation to my hostess only appreciation dinner.

Here is one of the techniques my members have done in the past:

Layered Brayer

Directions:

1) Heat emboss your chosen images on Glossy White card stock using VersaMark ink and Clear Stampin’ Emboss powder. Bold images work best for this technique.

2) Ink your brayer with a light color of ink, and bray your card stock.

3) Use a sticky note or scrap paper cut to desired shapes and sizes to cover portions of your card stock.
online_training_030
4) Ink your brayer with a darker color of ink, and bray your card stock again.

5) Repeat process if extra layers desired.

6) Remove paper scraps and wipe embossed images to remove excess ink.

online_training_038

Let me know if you are interested in joining one of my clubs, or get your friends together (min. 8 – max.12) and I’ll do which type of club you and your friends are interested in.

Congratulations …

Hello Stampers …

Wow… can’t believe it’s Friday already.  I hope you have the day off for holiday.

Update on Mom … everything is stabilized and she will be coming home today.  Thank you so much for the prayers and well wishes – I really appreciate your concern, it’s so sweet of you, and you really cheered Mom up.

Today I am sharing another card I made using the RMHC (Ronald McDonald House Charities) 2013-14 exclusive stamp set “TAG IT”.  Oh my gosh, this set is so cute… so I’ll be sure to post more for you.

The “TAG IT” stamp set coordinated with the Chalk Talk Framelit dies, adding a nice touch to this set.

I went a bit bold with my color pallet today, I figure that if your sending out congratulations, you may as well say it loud, and say it proud!  Maybe these are someones school colors!!

The trophy was heat embossing with Iridescent Ice embossing powder and the new Daffodil Delight ink pad (no need for an additional ink pad anymore)!

The background was embossed with the Big Shot and stripe folder.  I also used the Simply Stars stamp set that I used on yesterday’s holiday card!!

The Daffodil embellishments on the bottom of the card are the “new” Candy Dots … aren’t they cute!  I just love them.

A time for Celebration …

Hello Stampers …

Happy 4th of July!  Hope you are enjoying this beautiful day.

My apologies for the lateness of the post … I spent most of yesterday at the hospital with my Mom.  She was admitted for an irregular heart beat and blood pressure.  They got the blood pressure stabilized but not the heart beat.  I will be going back up today, and will keep you posted.

In honor of the July 4th celebrations… I have created a quick -n- easy card for you!101_1374

I used the new stamp set “Simply Stars”.  I love stars, I find them so versatile – they are great for almost any occasion.   I stamped them with the White Craft Ink and then embossed them… it was done on a single sheet of cardstock and then cut into the three pieces.

The reflection of the star was created by stamping it directly onto the cardstock in Real Red Ink and then stamping and cutting out the Navy star … I popped it up using the Stampin’ Dimensionals.
