Throwback Thursday: Butterflies!

Hello Stampin’ Friends ~

Today I thought it would be fun to share some cards that I have created for my blog or my stamp clubs from the past. Today we are going back to 2013, and the products that we’ll focus on are still in our annual catalog!

Let’s take a look at butterflies …

Swallowtail 4-29

The first is a card we did in my Stampin’ Technique Classes: Emerging Color Technique

  1. We sponged color – in this case, green in the center and turquoise on the rest … let dry.
  2. We then inked up the butterfly image with VersaMark and then embossed with clear embossing powder
  3. Final step of the technique is to brayer black over the entire card front & wipe off excess ink.

The beautiful colors underneath the embossed area now emerges! We then used the butterfly punches (also still available) to accent our card.

The second card is quick -n- easy and really cute!

000_1379

Our background was created with the “Honeycomb” folder (still available) … the only thing you need to swap out is the designer paper! And that’s not hard because we have so many fabulous designs.

My last card share for our Throwback Thursday is ….

000_1373

This card also has the “honeycomb” embossing folder and the Bitty Butterfly punch is used. The stamp set is no longer available but my suggestion would be the “Serene Silhouettes” or the “World of Dreams” stamp set… either one could be used in replacing the stamp set on this card.

As you can see, some items are timeless. You can easily create these cards again, and again.  Hope I inspired you to create with your butterfly punches … spring is in the air!

Just a quick reminder …

The Rose …

Hello Stampin’ Friends,

Today I am sharing a special card that I created because of the passing of my Aunt. I wanted something simple yet beautiful, and I found that in the “Timeless Elegance” Designer Series Paper. It is so pretty and reminds me of old photographs.

I remembered a technique where they colored on Black & White photos, so I used the Pink Pirouette marker to color only one of the roses. My way of saying she has now entered a most beautiful place, and will be greeted by all our loved ones who journeyed there before her.

000_2299

I used the shading on the paper to make my pink a little deeper, just color over that area several times until you get the desired shade.

The base of my card is Basic Gray and then the Pink Pirouette to pull out the color of the rose. I also layered a pop of Basic Black to really draw the eye to the card.

My greeting (sending sympathy and prayers…) comes from the “Petite Pairs” stamp set and has a sweet sentiment for the inside (to heal your heart).

000_2297

I carried the Pink Pirouette to the inside of the card and then used Very Vanilla, it coordinates with the “Timeless Elegance” designer series paper.

You could color all the flowers in and stamp a Happy Birthday greeting on it.  I think this paper is so pretty and very, very versatile!

I have included a list of ingredients at the bottom so you can view the items separately or go to my on-line store.

Thank you for stopping by my blog today.

Take good care ~

Simply Sunday … Sending Loving Thoughts

Hello Stampin’ Friends,

I hope this post finds you enjoying a beautiful weekend. After many days of rain, it was so nice to see the sun again.

Today I have a card for you where I have combined two simple techniques to create one beautiful card. I began with masking off a section of my card and sponging Mossy Meadow and Lost Lagoon into that area.

000_2137

Before peeling up the mask, I added the Bokeh technique … to create the background. Then I peeled off the mask and stamped the Serene Silhouettes over it using the Memento Ink Pad.

To complete my card I added a simple greeting from the Love & Sympathy stamp set.

The techniques of masking (with sponging) and Bokeh are simple to do and together they create a stunning focal point for your card.

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog today.  I have posted a list of ingredients below for your shopping convenience … just click on any of the items for details or to start your shopping.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend ~

TODAY’S STAMPIN’ SUPPLY LIST …

Spotlighting Sympathy cards …

Hello Stampin’ Friends,

Yesterday I shared a “Wedding Card” with you, today I share a “Sympathy Card” … two stages of life that we go through and make cards to show our friends and loved ones that we care.

I wanted to create something simple because I find it very difficult to sit down and stamp a sympathy card when I need one, so I tend to turn to my designer paper. With all the beautiful designer papers we have, it’s not hard to find one that fits the occasion we need.

I chose the new “Adventure Bound” Designer Series Paper Stack found in the Occasions Catalog. Last time I used this paper I simply stamped my image directly onto the paper and mounted it onto the cardstock, however today I wanted to take it up a notch so I decided to do a “Spotlight”.

To create a “Spotlight” on my card I used the “Square Framelit Die” and I lined it up to the corner of the sun on my paper …

000_1908

Once I cut out my square, I mounted it onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock. Now I was ready to mount my spotlight onto the base of my card. The card base is Almost Artichoke and I used some black cardstock behind the paper to make it stand out more.

000_1909

The spotlight was mounted using the Stampin’ Dimensionals to add dimension too …

000_1910

I then stamped my salutation of “With Sympathy” from the “Bloom with Hope” stamp set. Please note that this is a Hostess stamp set and is not for sale but available as an exclusive stamp set when you place or host a qualifying stamping order or party. Contact me with any questions you may have.

I used Whisper White craft ink and the White embossing powder for my greeting … the combination of the two really makes it stand out so much more.

I took the piece of paper that I cut off of my designer paper and placed it on the inside to create a feeling of harmony on the card. The inside words also come from “Bloom with Hope” and were stamped with Black StazOn™ … my favorite black ink! I love that it’s a true black.

000_1912

Hope you enjoyed today’s card and take some time to create a few “Spotlight” cards of your own. I have always liked this technique when stamping, now I love that it works so well using these fabulous designer papers too. I didn’t have the heart to cover this one up with anything.

000_1910

Thanks for coming by today …

Have a great Saturday!

Mossy Meadow Sympathy Card …

Hello Stampin’ Friends,

I’m back … I took a little break on Friday the 13th!  Today, I would like to share with you a card that I cased from a fellow demonstrator that I found on Pinterest.

Here is the card that inspired me.  It was created by  “Rachel Tessman” …

7d3e9baea619f61425db1a68e68d67a9

I loved the simplicity of her card.  As I’ve always said … sometimes less is more.  I wanted to share Rachel’s card with you, so you could see where my inspiration came from, and to give her credit for the original design.

Because I was using this card for my “Kick-Off Party” … I wanted to showcase the new In-color “Mossy Meadow” and chose to mat the stamped image with the Mossy Meadow cardstock.

102_2421

The image is from the Hostess stamp set … Bloom with Hope”.  I used StazOn to stamp the image, and then colored it in with the ink pad and Blender Pen.

I love texture, so I decided to add a subtle touch with the “Woodgrain” embossing folder and white on white cardstock.

102_2423

Both cards are beautiful, and you can clearly see I was inspired by Rachel’s card.  There is a lot of “casing” in the stamping world (CASE … Copy And Share Everything).

I hope Rachel and I inspired you today!

Have a wonderful weekend.

Simple Sympathy Cards …

Hello Stampin’ Friends,

Yesterday I introduced you to the “Simply Fabulous” Simply Sent Card Kit.  As you know, the retirement list went live last Monday and many of the items are already SOLD OUT.  Wow … they go fast!  As far as I know, the items shared today are still available, however the “are” on the retiring list so if you love them, get them soon.

RETIRING STAMPS LIST                  RETIRING ACCESSORIES LIST

We all know it’s hard enough to come up with a card when your in a hurry, but even harder when you or someone you care about has just suffered the loss of a loved one.   It’s so hard for me at that time to create a card, so I took yesterday’s solution using the Simply Sent card kits for quick cards, and added to it …

000_1025

I think this kit works beautifully for sympathy cards, and you can make up a couple of them right away so you won’t have to do it during that time of need.

I paired up the “Simply Fabulous” Simply Sent Card Kit with the “Thoughts and Prayers” stamp set.  I am happy to say that the Thoughts and Prayers is not on the retiring list.

I wanted to add some subtle color so I used the Pistachio Pudding both to back the lazer cut paper and the flowers.  The flowers were punched using the “Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack” – also on the retiring list.

000_1028

I used the “Glue Dots” to attached the punched flowers.  The pretty little gems come in the card kit, as do the envelopes.  Click on the link below to view the kit.

Our card kits are beautiful they way they are, as you saw yesterday, or you can easily change them to any occasion you need.

Thanks for visiting my blog today.

Have a wonderful week ~

Sending Love …

Hello Stampin’ Friends,

Today my card share is from one of the most requested card classes I receive… sympathy cards.   Usually when we go to our stamping spots to create, we are happy and make fun birthday cards for friends and family.

It seems to me that when you need a sympathy card, that is the last thing you want to do … so I am going to help out in 2 ways today.  First, my card share and then to invite you to an upcoming card class designed around those occasions when our hearts are just not into stamping … My “Open Hearts Class”.

Just remember, even though it’s a difficult time, the card you make to cheer someone up when they’re sick or comfort someone who’s lost a loved one – those cards forever touch their hearts.

000_0485

I began with the “Blessed Easter” stamps (comes in wood only) and just omitted the Easter greeting.  I did this by the “Direct to Rubber” technique, using markers to color the image.

The colors I chose were Elegant Eggplant and Wild Wasabi.  I then used the “Blender Pen” to pull color off my marker tip, and add it to the card, creating a watercolor look to the flower.

My salutation (greeting) comes from the “Love & Sympathy” stamp set found on page 68 of our catalog.  To add a touch of texture to the card, I used the “Flower Garden” embossing folder.  It’s very subtle but it added a nice touch to the card.

000_0482

Simplicity is key… for those making the card and those who receive it … just a heartfelt note to let them know you are thinking of them and that you care.

I will be posting my “Open Hearts Class” on my website www.lindaluvs.stampinup.net  I will post full details including class details and time.  Date for this class will be Monday, February 24th.  Mark your calendar and save the date!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Yesterday I shared some of my favorite “Best of 25 Years” stamp sets.  So today … I thought it would be fun to share some of the card samples that I have saved that highlight these stamp sets.  I will admit that some of these may or may not be my cards… they could be from swaps or photos from Stampin’ Up! events.

So here is to reminiscing  ….

Ok … the first one, “Best of Autumn” is not the exact pail of apples, but I did find one that was very similar.  If my memory serves me, this is a card that we did at a 10-4-10 card making event.5870-1432685

SIMPLY SKETCHED …

Welcome stampin’ friends!

I am stoked about sharing my card with you today!  WHY… you say?

Because it is one of my favorite new Hostess stamp sets …

“Simply Sketched”

This stamp set is a beautifully designed “sketch” style that just calls your name.  Oh, and the greetings are so pretty!  The card below is the “Make & Take” that I designed from my 2013 Spring Demonstrator Retreat!  We used aqua painters to do the “Watercolor” technique on the flower.

101_1237a

The base is “Crumb Cake” cardstock.  The pretty green “Pear Pizzazz” paper comes from the “Gingham Garden” Designer Series Paper pack.  The “pop” of color is the NEW “Strawberry Slush” from the 2013-15 In-Colors.

I used the 2-1/2 inch circle punch (120906) on the flower and the “Window Frames Collection” Framelits (129021) for the mat.  The pretty button came from the new “Very Vintage Designer Buttons” (129327).

101_1237b

OK… I can’t help it.  I must share my swap card with you too!  The Island Indigo color makes the card “pop” and was chosen to coordinate with the “Soho Subway” Designer Series Paper.  And don’t you just love that little bird!?

101_1239b

Let me just say … “the picture in the catalog does not do this paper justice”.  I simply fell in love with the Soho Subway Designer Series Paper (130140), it’s great for scrapbooking… and any type of card!

And FYI … the “Sympathy” is included in the Simply Sketched stamp set.  Just click on the “Shop Now” button to purchase any of the items you saw here today.

blog insert - shop nowA little reminder that the “Simply Sketched” is an exclusive Hostess set, which you can get FREE when you host a stampin’ party, join one of my clubs, or place an order of $150 (order with a friend or two!)
