Still Scenes Masking Technique

Hello Stampin’ Friends ~

Happy Saturday to you! Today I’d like to share with you a card I created with the beautiful Still Scenes stamp set …

So I began my search for inspiration on Pinterest, and what I found was NO samples using ONLY the stamp set! I agree, the coordinating die set is beautiful … but, what if you don’t have it? (I do … but) I wanted to show the beauty of this stamp set so today I will share that with you …

Because I used the MASKING Technique on this card, I started with the Shimmery White Cardstock and it is perfect for the snow globe! I wanted to use ONLY the images from the stamp set.

I began with my base and stamped it with VersaMark and then applied the Silver Embossing powder … once heat set, I moved to the snow globe. If you’re making multiple Christmas Cards, use your Stamparatus for perfect placement every time. Once the globe is stamped, stamp the home scene directly into the snowglobe. Now it’s time to mask …

You will need to stamp your globe image (base if desired) This is where the Stamparatus comes in handy, as it gives you the same alignment as your card. Stamp images onto a plain piece of paper, not cardstock … you could stamp it onto a sticky not and use that to adhere to the stamped card front.

With your Sponge Daubers and Pool Party ink …. gently apply ink (I do my application by small circular motion so you do not get any stopping and starting points of ink on your cardstock. You just want a soft glow of color behind the image … or that is how it appears! It adds dimension to your card without using die cuts, and we got texture from the embossing!

Don’t put that Pool Party ink pad away, you will need it to watercolor your silver base of the globe….

I used the Water Painters which hold water for easy watercoloring. Just squeeze your ink pad together so you have ink on the top inside and use that for your watercoloring tray … the squeeze a few drops of water from the Water Painters, mix and begin painting the ink into the base … you can add as much or as little as you want to make it darker or lighter … the painters give you more control and do not harm the embossing.

Color as needed, then assemble …

I forgot to mentions that I cut out the front with one of the larger rectangle dies… just to add a touch more texture. I added some brown to the trees using the writing tip of our regular markers, the sidewalk and sides of house are Smoky Slate, the tree is Old Olive and the door is Real Red.

You can see by the photo that the card front itself is adhered directly onto the Pool Party mat … it is the mat that is popped up using the Stampin’ Dimensionals directly onto the Shimmery White base.

Sometimes just the simple stamping techniques you learned when you first began stamping are still amazingly beautiful. Don’t forget to add the Wink of Stella in the snow and on the roof top! Santa needs something soft to land on!

Thank you for joining me today, and I hope that you learned a new technique or a stampin’ tip or two.

Enjoy this beautiful day ~

Magic in this Night reflection …

Hello Stampin’ Friends ~

Hope you are doing well … I’m great. Today and tomorrow I am attending the Stampin’ Up! Leadership Summit. We were to gather in New Orleans but the venue was cancelled due to Covid, so we’re going virtual. Hoping to learn more about that so I can share in more ways than ever before!

Prior to our Summit Stampin’ Up! sent us a little gift for of all places … Tiffany’s!! I will admit, it brought tears to my eyes. #leaderssummit

Yesterday we all gathered around our computers / laptops for the Welcome Reception and were told to bring our “gift” along so we could toast the kick off of the summit …

I’m so excited and can’t wait to hear the presenters, find out where the next Incentive Trip will be and to “be in the know” of what’s is coming for us next. I’ll be sure to share anything I can!

Today I’d like to invite you to take a walk back with me through the hauntingly tempting “Magic in this Night” product suite. Let’s see the many looks this one suite can create ….

Starting out super simple with the beautiful designer paper, a little pop of color and a couple of punches to highlight the greeting … oh yes, let’s not over look the stunning Metallic Mesh Ribbon! You can CLICK HERE to view the original post of this card.

Stepping it up a bit by introducing the Hallows Night Bundle dies …

In Basic Black and Gorgeous Grape added to the stunning designer paper, this Halloween card has gone Gothic with a flair! You can read how this card was HERE … just click that link. The patterned bats are beautiful and I added a few “glitter” bats to enhance it further.

This card uses some of the same dies but by switching out the designer paper pattern, it changes the entire look ….

I like all 5 of the cards I’m sharing with you today, however I think this one is my favorite … it’s kind of sexy for a Halloween card! I share the tips on creating this card – just CLICK HERE to view. I love this pattern in the Magic in the Night Designer paper, I believe it would be beautiful on other holidays as well as Halloween.

A Halloween Kitty for you ….

They tell us to watch out for black cats but how can you resist this cute little kitty. Yet another pattern from the Magic in the Night Designer paper sets the stage for our card (Read More Here) Fun and simple and perfect for your feline lovin’ friends.

Here’s the last one …. for today anyway!

I’ve gone a bit batty on this one … with the designer paper and the die cut bats this quick -n- easy card would be a treat for anyone who loves to celebrate Halloween. You can read the full details HERE.

I’m sure you could come up with some of your own amazing cards, I’m just here to share some inspiration. I love Halloween … it’s the fun holiday, and I love watching the kids get dressed up and trick or treating.

Hinge Technique with Borders Abound …

Hello Stampin’ Friends ~

Today I’m going to share with you one of the cards that we did at our Stamparatus Class this week. Lord I can’t tell you how wonderful it was to see my stamping friends again! ❤ In Person!!

The “Hinge Technique” is probably the most popular technique that you can learn with your Stamparatus but there are so many other tips and techniques to learn, if perfect placement isn’t enough reason to buy one!! Like Sandy said last night …. there is nothing worse than creating a beautiful card and then stamping your sentiment crooked, even if it’s on the inside 😦

I created this design not only to show how easy it is to use the hinge technique, but how easy it was to switch out colors … even if you were making multiple cards ….

I used the filigree border from the Borders Abound stamp set and aligned it onto my cardstock and then picked up the stamp with my plate … now you’re ready to stamp!

The colors used are Poppy Parade, Calypso Coral, Mango Melody, Granny Apple Green, and Coastal Cabana …. each color was achieved by moving the plate down hinge by hinge.

Then flip your plate or use the second one and place your sentiment onto the cardstock … pick it up with your plate and begin stamping your sentiment/greeting.

I added the Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon to add some texture and fun to the card. Using the tulle allows you to see the stamped images but still gives you the texture you want on the card ….

Isn’t that cute! This is one of my favorite ribbons for this reason, and because you can dye it any color you want. It’s a must have in your stamping supplies.

Another must have is your Stamparatus …. it helps you perfectly align stamp images, stamp multiples of the same project quickly and precisely, and get complete ink coverage.

Let me know if you have any questions or if you would like some help ordering your Stamparatus! The first video will be “how to”create today’s card using the Hinge Technique! Then more videos to follow: Layering for best results, using “templates” for quick -n- easy card making and more!

Thank you so much for joining me today! Its a steamy one here, stay cool, stay safe!

Have a good day ~

Technique: Spotlighting Christmas

Hello Stampin’ Friends ~

Today I will be sharing my cards created with the “Light Me Home” stamp set using the Spotlight Technique. Spotlighting is a stamping technique that highlights a small section of your stamped image.

When creating cards using the spotlight technique, you will be stamping your image twice; one for your main image or background, and the second which will be cut or punched to create your spotlighted area.

Grab a cup of coffee or your favorite beverage and join me as I share how I created three cards with the “spotlight” technique. This is my Facebook Live video from last night …

I am sharing all three of the cards that I did last night while doing the Facebook Live presentation. I stamped several of the backgrounds using my Stamparatus and then colored on one of them to create several cards. Here is the first of three …

All of my “spotlighted” areas are popped up using Stampin’ Dimensionals, just adds to the fun! It’s always nice to add some dimension and texture to your cards.

After my first card was done … I punched out the two other areas of the colored piece with my circle punch to create even more cards! I was able to get 3 cards from stamping the image 4 times with the Stamparatus. Didn’t you like how quick and easy that was to use?

I punched out the wreath for a spotlight and then used Real Red for the mat and Old Olive for the card base… this really brought out the colors used in the wreath.

On the “From Our House to Yours” … I highlighted the path to the home and used Basic Black for the mat and Smokey Slate for the card base (and the sidewalk that I colored with my Stampin’ Blends).

Because there was not a lot of color in this card, I added a touch of Smoky Slate to the light post and to stamp my greeting on … this was three pops of color, yet the sidewalk is highlighted. The Shimmery Crystal Effects also makes our “Spotlights” pop!!

This technique brings simple stamping up a level but with ease, and it plays well with the Stamparatus.

I hope this inspires you to try out the “Spotlighting” technique … feel free to send me your creation, I’d love to share them here on my blog! And I invite you to join me each Tuesday on my Linda’s Stampin’ Escape Facebook page to watch LIVE and get in on the prize drawings …

Just click on that ” f ” at the top of this page and it will take you directly to Linda’s Stampin’ Escape Facebook page … Don’t forget to LIKE / FOLLOW the when you get there … you won’t want to miss a thing!!

Thank you for hanging out with me today …

Enjoy your day!

Free As A Bird: Spotlighting Technique

Hello Stampin’ Friends ~

Today I’d like to share a card I made a while back that shows how to do the “Spotlight” Technique. I will also be featuring this technique on my Facebook Live tonight … I hope you will join me!

I have chosen to use Basic Black and Whisper White cardstock with a simple stamped image in black to start my card.  Then I stamped my chosen image of the birds on a branch with the Black Momento Ink.  This way when I color the image I’m going to spotlight … it will really stand out! In other words, it spotlights that section of the image.

Another simple spotlighting technique with the fun of coloring, whether you use the watercolor pencils, Stampin’ Write markers or the new Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers you are sure to fall in love with this. Choose an image from your favorite stamp set, I’m using the Free As A Bird stamp set … you will stamp your image twice (or you can cut out the image as I did yesterday to spotlight).

Because I used the Layering Squares Framelits Dies yesterday, I’ve decided to use them again today to cut out and spotlight my part of the image I stamped.  I decided to spotlight the two birds sitting next to each other because my greeting states “We are the best of friends”.

I used the Stampin’ Blends to color my sweet little birds but the watercolor pencils and the markers would work just fine too.  I just love the watercoloring look you get with the stampin’ blends.

Have yourself a wonderful day ~

Trick or Treat

Hello Stampin’ Friends ~

I had so much fun whipping together yesterdays Black Cat card that I whipped another one together for today. I have used yet another of the patterns in the Magic In This Night Designer Series paper …

Today it’s the “bats” that reign supreme … by far not my favorite mammal, but they make for great Halloween cards! Once choosing the bat designer paper my color pallet was simple; Basic Black, Whisper White, Daffodil Delight for our Moon and Gorgeous Grape for a pop of color!

What this color pallet doesn’t show is the Black Glitter paper which was used for our bats ….

What is so cool is my die cut bats from the Halloween Magic dies from the Hallows Night Bundle actually align and fit within the bats on my designer paper.

With a few of the Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals to pop up the bats … our card now has some fun dimension and depth! Makes them look like they are really flying around.

A simple greeting and the card is complete! I know I’ll be sharing more from this product suite, it’s so fun to use. Are you a Halloween fan?

Thank you for stopping by today, looking forward to the week ahead and I’ll be sharing more about that later.

Have a wonderful day ~

Simply Sunday: Cat’s Magic

Hello Stampin’ Friends,

Today I’d like to share a little Black Magic with you … in the form of a kitty! I have another sweet -n- simple Halloween card created with the “Magic in the Night” product suite.

I’m using yet another pattern from the Magic in this Night Designer Series Paper …

This card is layered with magical delights! The base is Cajun Craze and coordinates with the Magic in this Night Designer Series Paper pattern I chose and the Black Glitter paper.

The Magic in this Night Designer Series Paper is layered to create an mystical focal point … our Black Cat! Basic crating at it’s best, punches! The cat punch exposes the Black Glitter paper beneath …

The greeting was stamped in Tuxedo Black Momento ink and punched out with the 1-1/2″ Circle Punch and then tucked under the Metallic Mesh Ribbon… the sparkle from the ribbon dances with the glittering of our Black Cat.

All of the elements from the Magic in this Night Suite Collection are coordinated perfectly to add a touch of spooky elegance to all our project. My card today was completed by adorning it with the Iridescent Pearls … oooh they are striking!

You can check out all the Magic in the Night Designer Paper HERE along with my first card with this suite… OR my Gothic Halloween card in Pretty Peacock which you can find by clicking HERE!

Thank you for joining me today on a spooky trail of Halloween Haunts and a little Black Magic from our pretty little kitty!

Sunflower Thanks …

Hello Stampin’ Friends ~

Yikes … sorry for the late post but I promised I would share another Celebrate Sunflowers with you, and I got a cutie for you today! Using some of the same techniques as yesterday and then “WOW” … I used the large sunflower colored with the Stampin’ Blends.

Just like yesterday, I stamped the background but instead of covering the entire card, I just edged the sides with the little sunflowers. Then I used a Sponge Dauber to add a touch of ink to the centers of the little flowers, and then around the outsides of the flower … this technique does 2 things; it highlights the small sunflowers, and then leaves the center bright and open which then highlights the large sunflower as well.

The next step is to stamp the large Sunflower image … I used the Black Tuxedo Momento ink (it’s the best when coloring with Stampin’ Blends) I”m actually going to die cut “after” coloring.

I used the Light and Dark Daffodil Delight and the Light Soft Suede Stampin’ Blends to color my sunflower. I start with the Light Daffodil Delight, the color the lines with the Dark Daffodil Delight and then used the light to blend the two colors. The Light Soft Suede was used mostly in the center and then a little in the base of the petals to create real depth.

I stamped my greeting onto a 3/4″ piece of Very Vanilla using the Momento Ink and then I cut it out to create an interesting twist to the card… I think it highlights the pretty “script”. It is then placed over the Bumble Bee Ribbon.

JOIN ME … tomorrow as I do a “FACEBOOK LIVE” to demonstrate how I use my Stampin’ Blends for coloring. I will be on my Linda’s Stampin’ Escape Facebook page … meet me at 6pm/central time!

Thank you for hanging out and waiting for my post today!!

Enjoy the rest of your day ~

Simply Sunday: Celebrate Sunshine

Hello Stampin’ Friends ~

How’s your weekend going so far? Good I hope! Just wanted to share a quick update on my Stamparatus Class … The Wednesday Night Class is full, however I have 2 spots left in the Saturday morning class. If it fills and there is more interest, I will add additional classes.

Today I pulled out my Celebrate Sunshine stamp set and created a sweet -n- simple card for you. I will be playing with this set more this week and will share my creations with you ….

I used the smaller of the two flowers on my card today and chose my color pallet from nature itself … the sunflower! I started with a Early Espresso card base and Bumblebee card front with a touch of Very Vanilla.

I stamped the small flower image in Bumblebee ink onto the Bumblebee cardstock … it’s a fun and easy way to create background…

Once the background was stamped, I stamped the image onto Whisper White … you need to “stamp off” after inking up so the image is lighter, this allows your greeting to be the focal point yet still have a little imaging behind it.

Such a cute yet simple card to make … layering the cardstock gives your card more dimension (I also popped up the greeting with our Stampin’ Dimensionals).

I finished off the card with a pretty little bow which ties up the cards completion and adds some delightful texture to the card. Easy breezy!

Thanks for joining me today, and I’ll meet you back here tomorrow with another Celebrate Sunflowers card.

Returning Favorite … Perfectly Plaid

Hello Stampin’ Friends,

Today I’d like to share card samples from a “Returning Favorite” stamp set / bundle … I shared “Christmas Gleaming” earlier this week, now lets take a look at the “Perfectly Plaid” stamp set and coordinting “Tree” Punch!

This sweet card was created with the Perfectly Plaid stamp set and coordinating Tree Punch … You can find the stamp set on page 60 of our Annual Catalog. The picture doesn’t show the “Blackberry Bliss” as good as I would like, it is a pretty card!

This card was created with a layering of color and is so stunning. The designer paper was cut down into 4 (four) 1-3/4″ x 1-3/4″ and adhered to a 4″ x 4″ piece of Gold Foil. The tree was also punched out of the Gold and embossed.

The Vellum cardstock was placed underneath the gold tree to highlight it and the greeting. Our color pallet for this card was Cherry Cobbler and Shaded Spruce … perfect for the holidays.

Oh my … this card was a quickie I made with the left over foil that I punched the tree out from the last card. Here’s a little tid bit of information … This is one of my most “Pinned” Christmas cards on Pinterst! Who knew … guess you like simple!!

I made this card several weeks ago to showcase the New “Flowers for Every Season” card packs found on page 154 of our Annual Catalog. It also highlights the 6 x 6 In-Color Designer paper.

I have one more to show you …..

I made these cute little Gift Tags and tucked them into the Gold Pizza Box (that coordinates with our tags) for my Stamping Retreat attendee’s last fall. This little beauty gifts twice … once they used up the tags, they could used the box to share with another.

Thank you for walking down memory lane with me today. The cards can go from quick -n- easy to fun with plaid to elegance in gold… or, box it up!!

Have a great Friday ~
